AskLeo - Am I Too Late For Splinterlands? Any Tutorial Or Beginners Guide For Potential Fresh New Meet Like Myself?

avatar

I am probably the only one around here(Leofinance) that's not into Splinterlands. Why? I have no clue... I guess a break of almost two decades from any type of "video game"/computer games has made me an outsider in this space.

There's this concept of #playtoearn that is gaining traction lately thanks to all sort of games, such as Splinterlands, that are created on blockchain and are a way of earning some crypto wile having fun playing.

Fun and crypto, you said?

I want that as well, but tbh I have no clue what Splinterlands is about and where to start with it. All I know from some posts around here it's that it involves some cards and battles and that people are having fun while earning crypto with it.

Now I don't know if I am too late to this party, but I'd definitely dedicate a few minutes each day to this thing if it manages to captivate me, as it happened with @belemo, @ervin-lemark and others. I really don't know where to start though...

So, if you have any tutorial/beginners guide that could help me, please share it in a comment, I would highly appreciate that. I might onboard this Splinterlands boat after all. I don't promise anything, because I have no clue what's all about and if "I could be good at it".

All I know is that it's creating buzz around Hive blockchain and proves to be a well deserved marketing tool. If there's something cool of Hive "running wild" I want to be in. So, hit me with any info you got on it.

Thanks for attention,
Adrian

You're not alone, my friend. I find myself in the same situation! I don't think it's too late but I also don't really know where to start.

I'm not into it and I don't think I will ever get into it. But I'm quite sure I will get into Axie, and I will pay for the three Axies needed to get started on the game, without ever having to go through a freaking scholarship.

But first, it's time to mint some NFTs on OpenSea. I took some of my STEEM and HIVE and swapped them at Swapzone for a total of .04 ETH. And I must say, there is nothing more magical than seeing some ETH in my wallet.

I've heard of Axie to. Is it similar to Splinterlands?

Nope. I think it is more like Pokemon. But man, people are living off of it. Some people in third world countries play it to provide for their families needs. Some people are even getting rich from it. But the cost of entry is steep. You need around 600 to 1000 USD to buy the 3 characters needed to get started. And there is a guy here who blogs about his experiences with the game. He has also written guides for it. His name is @vendata.

I play both of them for money, Axie max profit is 4500 SLP around 700$, check the price for it. For Splinterlands now is around 300$ per month, if you reach Silver Gold and do the daily quest every day. So for playing both is around 1000$.

it is never to late, and the benefits for the airdrop are much more than the 10$ you pay for the spell book. basically you can have a drop of legendary and sell it for hundreds right away. i get one of those every 1-2 weeks.
