As I mentioned in my post the other day, I have been invested in Splinterlands pretty much since day one. Even earlier than that if you count the Kick-Starter.
I am currently the member of a couple of Telegram groups that are focused solely on NFTs and Blockchain based NFT games. Mostly, the stuff we talk about is over on the WAX blockchain, there is a lot of really good stuff going on over there if you haven't taken the time to check it out yet.
However, yesterday, their focus shifted and they started talking about something very near and dear to all of our hearts here on Hive.... Splinterlands.
It seems Splinterlands is the talk of the town right now. In case you missed it, their SPS launch was pretty phenomenal. The value of the game overall has pretty much skyrocketed in the last month or so and they still haven't even launched lands yet!
To be fair, I think some of the people in my Telegram chat used to dabble around with Splinterlands, but over time they lost interest or just gave up on the game for whatever reason. For those of us who have been playing religiously for the past three plus years, we have to kind of just sit back and laugh.
I am sure that is what the developers are doing as well. They had a vision and so far it has come to fruition in spades!
I was actually a bit shocked myself last night when I brought up the PeakMonsters and found that my card collection was in the five figure range. I feel like the last time I looked at it I was sitting in the $2000 range if I was lucky. That is just proof that interest in the game has been rekindled.
Honestly, I am beside myself right now because I just logged in again to find that my card collection has gained another $5000 literally overnight!
How cool is that?
Have you ever had one of those times where you try to tell your friends about your favorite TV show or band? You talk about it all the time, but they just don't seem to get it or be interested in it. Then one day, it's like a light bulb comes on in their head and they finally take a look and they suddenly get it. I mean really get it, and then you just have to sit back and laugh because you have been trying to tell them about it all along.
That is this in a nutshell.
Splinterlands was essentially two years ahead of the whole NFT craze and have had all that time to perfect the model and the road map. If you are the betting sort, you would be out of your mind to ignore those odds.
So from all of us who have been here since the beginning (or close to it) to all of you who are suddenly realizing the awesome potential that Splinterlands has, I will just say this:

Congratulations… That is awesome… I bought 285 cards back in 2018, never ever played and my cards are now worth almost $2,000.

Well it only has value if you do sell it. And that is the big problem with SL. Everybody is afraid to sell, potentially missing out on more profit. Which does the market go berserk!
We should all enjoy these moment, but not forgetting to take out some profit!
I put one of my extra cards on the market for sale. We will see if anything comes from that. It should be a pretty nice payday if it does.

You can of course always rent it out. This way you keep the card and earn some decent daily dec.
That is true, but I don't think people are interested in renting right now. I think they want to hold cards so they can increase their SPS take. I think that is what is really driving the market.

Yea my collection exploded in value as well. I think I got about 60 SPS or so for my airdrop and I plan on staking it but I heard that staking it before August won't give you any benefits.

Nope, August 2nd is when they are going to start paying. If you aren't selling it there isn't much else you can do with it until then, so why not stake it. That was my thinking anyway.

It seems all that playing of the game is paying off now. I just checked my card value and it is getting close to five figures! With all the SPS coming in I will have assess the situation. I may well sell some as I can always use more HIVE. I do sell some cards, but will keep the really valuable ones for now. The DEC price is up too, so doing my daily challenge can add a fair bit of value.

Yeah, DEC is going nuts right now! I got a second Brownie up to level 5 at one point. I just noticed that is going for like $200. I threw it out on the market since I still have a max level six one in my deck.
I'm selling some Rising Star cards for good money. HIVE is way up today too. We need to get more people talking about these things.
I heard that the cards in RS are going up in value.

A lot are priced in HIVE, so they will, but it's questionable if some will find buyers. I'm buying a few cheaper ones to fill gaps in my collection.
I am probably just going to hold mine for now. I have a 50 XP booster, but my level is still too low right now to part with that.
