I have a rule of only pooling $100 worth of assets at a time, that way the fee percent is reasonable!

Your threshold is well chosen I believe. I broke this minimum for DEC pooling (only two), one of which was when there was a fee waiving, and on bLeo pooling, where my chunks were usually around 50$.
