Play2Earn Highlights – Unpacked my first Dr. Who NFTs

What an exciting week it has been in Cryptoland! The German government will soon be using tax payer money to pay for ETH gas fees, Leofinance announced their BSC DeFi project CUB Finance and Publish0x partnered up with KuCoin so that you can soon withdraw ETH and AMPL earned by blogging without gas fee limitations (read the official announcement)
Hyped by these awesome news I spent as much time as possible in the Play2Earn universe with every intention of growing my stake. Let’s take a look at what I got.

Splinterlands

Monstermarket Reward Analyzer is a great tool to find out how much you earned from playing by counting the DEC earned by battling as well as those from quest rewards. It also shows the burn value of reward cards earned as well as other rewards like packs and potions.
According to the Analyzer, this week my accounts earned:
6867 DEC
3870 DEC in burn value
2 Untamed Packs
19 Alchemy Potions
17 Legendary Potions

The DEC in burn value is usually valued too low because you can sell better cards for much higher prices. These were the best I got this week:

Yes, I got a Spirit Shaman! At the time of writing this card is currently at 92.41% of its total print limit. As it will soon go out of print, I am all the happier to have just received my 46th copy which I can now merge into one max level card.

That extra magic attack point is sure to make a difference! Cards with the Void ability are now not immune to the Shamans attacks anymore.

I can also recommend participating in the Splinterlands posting contests. The upvotes they distribute for quality content are just awesome. Just look at this week's post that earned upvotes worth 4.54 USD.

Dr. Who - Worlds Apart

image.png

I did not include this game in my previous Play2Earn highlights, despite the fact that I have been logging in for the past 26 days straight. Worlds Apart is an – apparently Dr. Who themed – trading card game on the Ethereum blockchain. It is still in Pre-Sale mode and not yet playable, with a playable version scheduled for later in 2021.

For the first log in on each day you currently receive a bonus of 10 Pandaks which is their in-game currency. I’m close to buying my first card pack with Pandaks and I intended on writing about the game then. But to my surprise, I found a card pack sitting in my inventory during my daily log-ins this week. I have no idea, how it got there, whether it was a bonus for such a long log-in-streak or whether it was some other kind of airdrop. Still it was an awesome surprise and I directly went to unwrap it.

This is what I got:

Cards are not tradeable yet, so I have no idea how much this is worth. But time will show and I’m positive that getting cards for free this early in the game has a lot of potential. And the Nukeball is of “Epic” rarity, so this can’t be too bad.

Neon District

This week I learned how to use my MetaMask browser extension with the Binance Smart Chain with a tutorial on Binance academy in order to claim my CUB airdrop. With 0.1 CUB in my possession this was for educational purposes only, but it made me wonder which other possibilities this new knowledge would open up for me.

Knowing that Neon District was built on the Matic network and wanting to transfer my items to my own wallet for some time now, I started playing around with MetaMask and the game’s account settings.

In the end, it was quite simple actually and I now have all my Neon District assets sitting in a wallet I am in control of. Read the full tutorial on how to transfer Neon District NFTs to your private wallet in my Play2Earn blog.

Alien Worlds

After hours of mining for TLM I found my second NFT of common rarity in Alien Worlds this week. In addition to several dozen abundant NFTs this takes my collection to two commons and one rare. My newly found Sky Shield has one more attack point than the abundant Standard Shield everybody is getting which sure seems nice. Also, it is of a different element (Air, while the Standard Shield is Neutral). We will yet have to learn how this affects gameplay.

AlienWorlds_SkyShield.JPG

This Sky Shield is currently worth $0.28 which I consider a lot, given the fact that you can’t even use it in the game yet.

Looking at elements I learned something new about Alien World’s minions. Except for the Terminator find two weeks ago I only found Grey Peacemakers and Stealth Mercenaries so far which I blindly staked to R-Planet like all my other abundant duplicates never looking at their exact stats.

AlienWorlds_GreyPeacemakers.JPG

Now I realized that there can be different kinds of the same minion! Look at these two Peacemakers for example! One belongs the Gem element with 16 ATK, 17 DEF and 40 SPD and the other is of the Neutral element with offence and defense reversed at 17 ATK, 16 DEF and 40 SPD. The Stealth Mercenaries I have found so far also belong to two different elements (Air and Neutral). It’s just so much fun to discover all these little details in games, isn’t it?

In addition to the Sky Shield and the TLM I got from mining, I also received this new CryptomonKey NFT for mining on one of their land plots. Check the official announcement for how to get one of these in the next reward cycle.

I believe this BANANO project has a bright future. They are all over Cryptoland right now partnering with all sorts of other teams even across chains from Alien Worlds to Splinterlands.

What are you waiting for?

While these games will not make you rich, they're handing out free money for doing (almost) nothing. I will grow my stake in these games by re-investing the earnings and also swap some fraction of the tokens for Satoshis to add to my stack.

I noticed a pack in my Dr Who account but since it wouldn't open when I clicked on it I thought it was a bug. 😂

I just tried again and eventually got it to open. Like you I've no idea where it came from but it was a nice surprise.

Anything good? I received an email for every card I unpacked, which told me about its rarity. :-)

I'm not sure I actually got them. It took a few attempts to be able to open the pack. And then numerous attempts to see them in my collection. I didn't get any emails so I'm not sure if they are legitimate or not. I've sent an email to support. There's nothing special anyway - 1 rare and 4 commons which I imagine is the lowest you can get in a pack.
