One Year of Hive | Movie Intro | Growing Together Growing Strong!

Name The Movie

There is this community that goes about its business as usual. They are practically sitting on a gold mine. The bad guy from the East eyes this gold mine for long. He watches it, talks about it but seldom makes a move. One fine day, he reaches an arrangement to become part of the community. The community welcomes the move.

The community welcomes the new member to the community and hopes that the addition would help the community prosper and help the newcomer. But alas they were in for a shock. The newbie had other plans. He did not want to be part of the community. He wanted to own the community. He wanted to dissolve the community leadership voted by the community and build his own and merge it with his empire from the East.

The baddy had underestimated the community. They fought tooth-and-nail. Their spirit and conviction could not be muted. The world took note. Sparrows started tweeting. All the cronies that helped the baddy (in error or willingly) were brought to the fore. Few of them backed off at the resolve shown by the community, and others laid low. The baddie was left with a bleeding nose.

Not only that, the community overnight created a new world and transitioned into it (a bit of sci-fi here. 😊 ). The baddie could not take things lying down. It was not the bleeding nose but his average ego which hurt more. He planned something even more sinister.

He caught hold of the community members' erst-while residences and properties and sought to steal it all. He did it thinking that he could escape the theft by putting his corporation’s name as the doer. Alas, little did he know that goodness has its way of favoring the righteous.

A white night emerged from within. He appeared to be the baddies guy, but deep within, he was on goodness’ side. He was the modern-day Robinhood. He allowed the theft and then stole from the thief. And when everything was done, he left a message.

“STEALING IS BAD!”

The white knight was as mysterious as Satoshi Nakamoto, but he had gained himself a seat in the Kingdom of the King of Kings (I mean, heaven 😊 ). The baddie was at the receiving end of all the ridicule that both the worlds could think of. He did not just have a bleeding nose and hurting ego but also lost a couple of teeth and any shred of respect that was left.

The community that transitioned to the other world kept chugging ahead and prospering more than ever. As for the baddie, he still continues to be disillusioned.

He still runs around calling his empire the killer of the Ethereum empire. He does not have much work other than spending time with the sparrows and tweeting with them. Even the sparrows are fed up with him. But life continues for the baddie. The tight slap remains engraved on both the cheeks much like Phantom’s ring on a thug's face!!

Now, tell me, which movie is this?

Hello Hive!

As you would have guessed, that was not a movie but a real-life occurrence. Annnnddddd…. Can you believe it? We all starred in the movie. This has to be exciting. Whether you were the community members or whether you were the white-knight or even the good-hearted people on Twitter who sided with us, good job done! Congratulations to have formed a new world, a world we call Hive!!

As you would have guessed, I really did not want to speak about the baddies of the past, hence the movie scene. But what resilience and resolve we showcased, and how far we have come from the past. Deep down, I feel, the baddy’s episode had to happen to propel us in the right direction. And guess what, it has done wonders to us. It is easy for me to say, but the victory is not complete until the money that “just-in” cheapo tried to steal is returned to the rightful owners. I am sure that will happen soon too. 😊

Now, let’s talk about Hive.

Hive Is Alive!

Just curious, the newest community CineTV, would they be interested in making a movie out of Hive’s past? 😊 I can be the narrator.

Communities

Now that we mentioned CineTV let’s start with the communities within Hive. The formation of communities was an idea put into action on Steem. Most of the ideators of the communities transitioned to Hive when the separation from Steem was effected. That was the turning point. Many communities transitioned to Hive-engine and were available to Hive members. Some stayed back but fizzled off. The stark difference between Steem-engine and Hive-engine is proof of the fudding.

Communities are thriving here on Hive, while few of them are doing better or equal to the Hive token. Here is the story of a child doing better than the parents. Oh wait, that is the story most of the time, right? If that is the case, then this parent has done the right thing. 😊. Mann, I am starting to love my arguments.

Communities like LEO, Splinterlands, BRO, and many more have not only made a niche within Hive but also progressed to make a name for themselves outside Hive. So, if Hive provides an earning avenue, then these communities act as force multipliers. Your earnings can skyrocket. Only your imagination (or lack of it) can hold you back. 😊

Reach

Here, I have a bit of a confession to make. I think the Steem saga made us appreciate the power of social media and other conduits to reach the world. Twitter was buzzing when things were going wrong, but that also made us famous. Hive became an overnight sensation with thousands or even millions rooting for us. It was the power of the community versus a disillusioned billionaire. We made it, and we made it out strong.

But our learnings helped us carry on further. Social media has been an avenue for us to talk about Hive. It could be a post about Splinterlands attracting readers to Hive or straight out about Hive and what its place is in the crypto-sphere. Social Media is furthering our reach. It is only a matter of time to reach the inflection point, and then people will come looking for Hive. Yeah, that will happen. 😊

Where Are We Headed?

Well, let’s be honest, we don’t have a single common response for this. There are users who are keen to make money, and nothing wrong with it. There are communities that would want to grow and progress. The Hive itself would want to be the Social Media 2.0 (or is it 3.0) and many, many more ways to look at things from differing perspectives.

But the good thing is that should there be a threat, all of these differing perspectives know how to join forces. Steem has taught us that, and we can only be happy. Heck, I remember running around to vote witnesses with my meager Steem Power (before the Hive forking) so that just-in fellow’s sock-pocket witnesses did not win. That’s a learning that is going to stay with us.

No matter when or no matter how, if there is ever an inkling of threat to our ecosystem, I bet we will know how to respond. That’s what I would call the convergence of the differing perspectives. Damn, I deserve a PhD for all these new terms and phrases that I keep throwing at you all.

So, that’s it. It has been great learning, and we have grown stronger. It’s just a year. Imagine what could happen after five or ten years? Things look positive!

Keep Hiving and Jiving!

Now that the fun is here to stay, so get rocking. We may still have differences of opinion within the group, but we stand together when we get out there. At times, that is all that matters!
