Splinterland Credits

Thanks to the new feature called Credits it's now easier than ever to be a Monster Maniac.

A short while ago (2/24/2020) the Splinterlans team introduced a new currency to the game of Splinterlands called "Credits". You might be thinking.... "But we already have DEC" and while that is true Credits allows us luxuries DEC can't provide.

Credits allow Splinterland Players...

  • (1)The ability to purchase cards on the market with USD
  • (2)The ability to purchase multiple things (like booster packs and gold/legendary potions) without having to make multiple PayPal or external crypto payments.

As the screen shot above shows, Credits are valued at $1 (USD) per 1000 and can be purchased with PayPal.

Credits vs. DEC

Many of you may be wondering why we're adding another currency into the game when we already have DEC which can do all of these things. The reason is that we are unable to sell DEC due to it being a transferrable digital currency. Unlike DEC, Credits are non-transferrable, have no "cash value", and may only be used to purchase certain items within the Splinterlands game.

Credits are merely a convenience token to facilitate the types of transactions described above, very similar to the in-game currencies in the majority of traditional games with which we are all familiar.Source

Does this mean we get paid in "Credits" when Selling a card?

In short, nothing will change on the sellers end. When a buyer purchases cards on the market using Credits, the sellers will still receive DEC as payment. When a market purchase is made using Credits, the Credits will be sent to Splinterlands which will then purchase the cards on the buyer's behalf using DEC from Splinterlands own account.


Using credits to purchase cards is very easy. After finding a Splinterlands card you want to purchase select "Credits" from the drop down menu to use it as your payment option and then click BUY. If you don't have enough Credits to make the purchase you will be greated with the below message.

SBD is what I usually spend on cards.

Do you always go to the Discord sm-bot channel and get the actual graph of the Total Market Cap each time? (Each new post)

think it is just me but if feels like more players are selling out their collections which in turn is dragging down DEC price and card price. I hope somehow this all stabilizes and hoping this stable coin is one part toward that stabilization.
