What are the Best Value Splinterlands Cards to Level Up? Earth Splinter!

(Edited)

The Earth Splinter is the 'healing' splinter, and it's a good choice for those mid ranged mana battles in the mid 20s as there's lots of 2-5 mana cards that are just fantastic!

But which are the most effective Earth Splinter cards to level up for the money?

IMHO expensive but oh so worth maxing out!

It's very easy to figure out the best value cards to buy. We just need to visit @darthgexe's most excellent stats tool to see which cards have a combination of reasonably high play rates and win rates, and the results are as below...

NB - I took the data before the Fork, so this is two weeks old, but I've been keeping an eye on win rates and use rates for several months, and the same cards featured here as have done historically, so I doubt if much has changed since!

Ordered by use rate, win rate to the right

I've put anything with a win rate above 50% in red, and analysed down to a used rate of around 0.4%, I think anything lower than it is so specialist it's not as worthwhile investing in because you simply won't use the cards that often, even if they have very high win rates!

So what are the best value Earth splinter cards to level up?

The results above are just for the Diamond League, which is the league I tend to start the season in, and so most of the plays are going to be with cards levelled to at least their 'peak cost efficiency' if not their absolute max.

Below I'm going to consider all of the cards in red in the table above plus Spirit Druid Grogg, as he has an exceptionally high win rate, besides having a very low use rate, but that's probably just because he's so new and most people don't hold the card yet!

Cards Analysed in terms of cost to peak efficiency

Above is all cards ordered from cheapest to most expensive to peak efficiency (IMO), below I'm going to give my rough order of cards I'd buy if I didn't already have all of them to peak efficiency!

Best value cards for <$10

The one card which really screeches out to me from the bargain basement is the Screeching Vulture - for only $8.00 you get 3 damage for 3 mana, and scavenge with this opportunity card.

And if you're on a really tight budget, you can take him up to LEVEL 6 where he gets scavenge for around $2.00!

I've also got a real soft spot for the Failed Summoner, he's a great second row monster in lowish mana battles, or even front row in very low mana battles - $3.30 will get him up to Level 6 where he gets demoralise, very handy!

Best value cards for $10 to $20

$10 for two buffs, and two evil buffs as well as two damage is great - but you need level 9 for both - poison effectively means he does 3 damage on average, and affliction, that can be a battle winner, typically against another Earth deck which tend to favour healing!

It might also be keeping an eye on Grogg - you have to play him with strengthen and ideally triage, but with a win rate of 70% I can't not give him a mention!

Best value cards for >$20

I use this in practically every Earth line up - with a use rate of 5% and a win rate of nearly 65% I'm clearly not the only one!

Pricey, yes, but a battle winner, most certainly - double heal for two mana, essential!

Too expensive?

I hate to say it, as she is a real battle winner, but at $70 this is one pricey legendary, I'm just glad I picked mine up in the Whale sell-off a while back for a lot less than $70!

Final Thoughts

I wouldn't rule out any of the other cards necessarily - Mittica is great for example, just not as useful as the Princess for the same money.

And the Sporcerer is a great card - three buffs for an Epic, and good magic damage - very worth it!

Other cards are useful in support - Brownie to buff up the vulture, an the Child to add on snipe to The Spirit, but if yer going to buy the Child, you may as well get the neutral Centaur which is more versatile.

What's interesting is some of the very popular cards which have high use rates, but low win rates, namely:

  • Earth Elemental
  • Flesh Golem
  • That weaker healer.

I've recently stopped using the Earth Elemental except in slow rule sets - he misses too much, and the Flesh Golem I only play if I don't have access to my neutral Lord A, and then I try and make sure he's got some shields.

So with Earth, more so than other Splinters, there are some surprising results from this analysis about what cards are the most useful to invest in!

What benefit do you get from Failed Summoner? I've not used mine much.

Failed summoner is nice low mana card with great health. It can be pretty useful in Keep Your Distance rule set.

@xabi's right - he's great in low mana, huge health for 2 mana - @bubke played him against me and won in a low mana earth battle - he knows his shit, so it's defo a useful card!

The demoralise can come in really handy too!

It's one of those classic 'level 6 for optimum power' Untamed cards! Minus one damage is great - I mean it can keep your monsters alive for another round, more with heal!

Wow a Gold Spirit of the Forest!

I was so happy to see that as one of the cheaper cards during the TH sale, just wish I'd picked up two!

Then again, I've nearly got $4K in Splinterlands cards DEC now, that's silly money for digital cards!
