It's Hard to Sell Steem

avatar

I came into this new year with a plan to start diversifying my portfolio by keeping my posts 50/50 so I'm not 100% in Steem. It's not that I don't believe in Steem, I would just like checking out some other projects and hedge my risk in the case for some reason Steem went to 0 by the end of the year.

I am surprised, however, just how hard it has been to find other projects I'm willing to diversify into. Even Bitcoin, in which I've been watching a few Bitcoin maximalist YouTube videos and podcast recently, I find it hard to willingly sell Steem for.

I shouldn't be too surprised, however, as I've already talked about a few ways you can earn Steem passively through curation and delegation.

Bitcoin Just Sits There

Yes the value goes up and down and it has a proven track record, and if I did business internationally I could use it as an exchange of value, but for the most part, it's still difficult to use, will likely become expensive to transact with during the next bull run, and still might get bogged down with the lightning network.

If anyone knows a good and safe way to earn interest on my Bitcoin, it might become a little more interesting to me, but while altcoins are a riskier bet, they just seem like the reward is potentially better in the current market.

Bitcoin is the very first crypto I've ever earned and the first one I learned about and am currently downloading the full wallet. I believe if anything will survive in the crypto space it will be Bitcoin. I will continue to sell small amounts of Steem for Bitcoin to sit in a wallet and hopefully one day be able to use for something other than selling at the end of the year to help cover any tax obligations. After all, it's the least "Risky" investment in a very risky space and a good overall investment in general.

Ethereum, Tron, EOS, and Tezos (Smart Contracts)

I want to check out other projects not on Steem, but besides God's Unchained, I don't really see anything that's currently worth checking out. If you know of any good projects on other platforms, besides gambling, let me know. At this point, I don't even care if I earn any crypto for playing if it's fun, and on a blockchain, I'd like to support it.

I have been seeing a lot of DeFi talk on Ethereum and if this is something I can start earning crypto for let me know. I'm not interested in any scam projects such as HEX, but if it's a legitimate project that has a reasonable interest rate, around 10% or less, shill it to me or share your article or even a ref link in the comments down below for all I care.

I find myself most interested in Tezos. Maybe I'm just a sucker because I keep seeing the price run-up, but the fact that I can easily "stake/bake" my Tezos on Coinbase makes me most interested in this project. I know not my keys, not my crypto, but until the space becomes more user-friendly and the fact that it's insured helps to feel a little safer leaving some crypto on an exchange.

Even Utility Tokens are Not Exciting

I love being able to use the Brave browser to earn BAT. I really don't even have to do anything besides turn on advertisements and browse the web. I can't think of a time any more exciting on the web when you get paid to do something you'd normally do every day.

What can I do with my BAT and why would I ever buy it though unless I trade it to earn more Bitcoin. I'm sure sometime in the future I could use it to promote a blog or YouTube channel I'm working on, but for now, it's not really something I'm interested in. So once again it becomes an avenue to earn more Bitcoin and when I usually say earn more Bitcoin in this article, I really mean earn more Steem.

Compound Returns and Usage with Steem

Steem has the ability to earn Steem passively and actively. You can write blog posts, play Splinterlands, or just go through and curate others to encourage them to stay active in the platform. I continue to grow the amount of Steem I have on a yearly basis, and it seems like the more Steem I'm able to accumulate the faster it grows.

Steem-Engine is working on creating a fiat onramp for crypto Steem, it's working on setting up a marketplace to be able to use Steem to buy real-world goods, and it already has an exchange to trade crypto. The only thing it's currently lacking is usage, growth, and liquidity, which is quite a bit, but I think the foundation is there as long as the users will come.

coins.gif

Steem-Leo already has a marketplace and has been continually updating its website interface as well as making improvements on their exchange as well. Steem Leo continues to push communities forward and is, in my opinion, the current benchmark in which all other communities are compared. Which, if I wanted to, I could also grow my Steem even faster by selling community tokens for Steem, but as of now I'd rather hold the community tokens!

What's your favorite way to earn Steem or other Crypto?

I am keeping an eye on what EOS is going to be doing with Voice. That could be a really interesting thing in the future. A lot of it will depend on if they can get the stuff worked out on the EOS Main net or run it on a side chain or something like that. The majority of my investment (especially time wise) is on STEEM. I'd love to see an EOS Knights type game running on the STEEM blockchain. I also am pretty heavily invested in BOID. It runs on EOS but it is basically a social supercomputer. So you use your machines spare resources to solve real world problems (like mapping cancer markers) and you mine BOID in the process. Finally, you might want to check out Decentraland. It has a huge developer base and a lot of potential. Especially if you are into the whole SIMS/Minecraft type thing.

Yeah decentraland is something I want to check out more. Looking into it from a high level, I can see where it has it's merit, but I'm not sold yet. Especially since there is more competitors coming out and it sounds like splinterlands is creating something similar.

I enjoyed playing the EOS Knights market. I haven't logged in for a while, but the past couple of times I have the market was dead. I was flipping the Gems on their and making a few cents, but it was still something I enjoy doing.

I'm interested in Voice as I think they can spend a lot more in marketing with their war chess and it will be interesting if they pay people to come. I'm also interested to see how they handle taxes since it seems like they're trying to be on the up and up so if they provide a W2 type document every year to help me correctly pay my crypto taxes that would be nice.

I've ran Storj on my computer before and that was fun. I don't see how Boid has value as at least Storj, to my knowledge, requires you to buy Storj to be able to use the service, but maybe BOID is the same way.

I am on the fence about BOID too. Supposedly they have some plans in the future that will give the token more value than just staking it so you can earn more of it. That is the model right now. Well, that and the contests they have. I think right now the rewards from being on a winning team are better than the actual value of the token itself. I just need it to get to $.10 and I would be a happy man :)

Yes ... I like BAT ... Are you earning $Bat blogging on Publish0X yet ? The Crypto articles sometimes get $10 / post and earn $$ forever (Not just 7 days like Steem) ... I simply send my $bat to Coinbase and convert to Bitcoin or Ethereum. It adds up fast. Also - share your Publish0X Ambassador link on Twitter and get 10 % of anyone else who joins.

I try to look outside of my Steem bubble from time to time, but every time I do, I see nothing more interesting, or at least to same level.

This is a very unique place :)

Yeah, I would like to give looking out a more heartfelt try this time.

I know there are other good projects out there and want to gain a better view of what all is happening in the crypto space

Greetings, I might have a suggestion. Have you tried Bankroll? It's on the Tron network and its basically a way to earn passive income with different levels of risk. The safest way I see is using the "Credits" option which charges a 10% on entry and 10% on exit. 8% of that goes into a dividend pool from which you will be receiving income daily when others enter or exit. If you decide to partake I would be grateful if you used my referral to enter:

For my sake I hope you're wrong. Would be foolish of the owner to be scamming as he could be hitting massive profits without the need for scam. We'll see what happens within a year.

Coinbase is hands down the best and safest exchange out there for sure.

Other than BAT, there's really nothing else in terms of activity and use out there. I spend a lot of time in Twitter interacting with the crypto community and all they do there is talk about their trading activities; LONG or SHORT blahblahblah, not dick sizes of course.

If you're about growing an audience and earning from content, then you could look at whaleshares, uptrennd and voice but I quit on EOS ever since they fucked me in the ass with EOS knights and made it clear that their network is no place for poor people.

I mean you have maidshares, Storj, Sia, Golem, and lots of other utility tokens out there that provide a service.

Crypto twitter is mostly trolling so not really looking their anyways.

Whaleshares is just a Steemit clone and now that you don't have bid bots anymore I really don't see the point as Steem will always, as far as I can tell, be the front runner.

Always good to hedge a little. Nothing wrong with diversifying. It's the smart move & great way to build a killer portfolio too!

Not shilling but some of the more interesting projects I've been following for awhile. OKcash interesting crypto in general. Proof of stake. The project has gone through it's ups and downs though.

SiaCoin working on data storage like AWS type services.

Reddcoin is working on cross platform social network integration.

Tron - So much going on with that blockchain. Lot's of gambling, but a lot of other stuff to like DEX and gaming.

One of my favorites right now would be Waves. Just look at what's happening with https://waves.exchange/ really impressive DEX and payment gateways.

Also, XRP and XLM. These products are going to get used and I'm voting them mostly likely candidates to get accepted by mainstream.

Again, not shilling. Please DYOR. Not meant as financial advice. Just throwing a few of my favorites and long time follows out there for the sake of conversation.

Holding other coins is so boring, at least when you hold steem you gain a bit in inflation and a lot in curation depending on your stake and thats without posting or playing games!

I do earn BAT from browsing and from publishox but all i end up doing is saving it up and buying more STEEM with it. Over the past 3 years I've never seen another crypto to rival STEEM, what it has and what it can offer. Basically i'm all in with this one for better or worse.

In the end though. I think it will be a good choice.
