Mushroom Seer | Strong Magic Attacker | But Neutralizes Opponent’s Magic

avatar

Introduction

I have played a lot of games where the Mushroom Seer was in the opponent’s kitty. It was rather irritating when I took the Water Splinter and went in with all magic attackers. Why? Because the Mushroom Seer reduces the magic attack value of all the magic attackers by one. That is as good as a summoner. The only difference is that the Seer can carry out magic attacks. Hmm.. in that sense, it is stronger than a few of the summoners, in my opinion.

With such a potent enemy card, you can’t blame me for heading to the nearest market and purchasing one, can you? You would understand, I am sure. So, here I am with the Mushroom Seer and ready to do to opponents what they did to me. Muuaahahahha!

Just in case you didn’t get it – that was a villainous laugh. 😊

While the big Mushroom is good at neutralizing the enemy magic attack, we can’t forget that it comes with a magic attack value of two. That’s a lot for a monster at level one. So, you see, it can pulverize the opposition with its magic attack and at the same time take out the potency of the opponent’s magic attack.

Let’s get to know some more about the Mushroom Seer. But before that, let’s take a moment to understand Splinterlands as a game. It would help newbies and wannabes. 😊

So, let’s get going.

What Game is Splinterlands?

Well, it is one of the earliest blockchain-based collectible games. Though I started playing the game relatively late, I should have had gotten going early in hindsight. Anyway, no need to despair. There are so many opportunities no matter when you start.

Games_Splint1_LookFeel.jpg

Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn on the cards. It is one of the most generous games that I have seen where cards, potions, Dark Energy Crystals (DEC. Cryptocurrency) are given out every day to thousands of players for just playing and winning daily quests. And there are tournaments or guilds that you can join.

Just to give you an idea of a few of the uber-expensive cards, take a look at this recent purchase of Prince Julian at USD 3500.

Mushroom Seer | The Silence Specialist

Okay, now that you got a sense that the Mushroom Seer is one heck of a card to hold, how about seeing one in battle? I bet you want to see one in battle, and we will do so in a moment. The Seer costs only five manas to take into battle and does well to inhibit the enemy almost instantly. In that sense, it is a great card.

The only parameters that I would be worried about are health and its speed. With a speed of one, it is most likely the last monster to attack in our lineup. Besides, its health value of three does not instill confidence that it would last through the opposition's barrage of attacks, should they have snipe and/or opportunity monsters. So, this could be the only worry – that the Mushroom Seer may not even get to attack in a battle.

Yeah, well, it does silence the opposition for what it’s worth. Hmm.. okay, if you are one of those who likes to see the silver lining in each cloud. 😊

Let’s get on with the battle, shall we?

Mushroom Seer in Battle

So, I decided to take the Mushroom Seer in a battle of 21-mana cost. It was obvious that the Seer would fit in effortlessly at the given mana cap. However, there was an additional benefit. The game had the health-equalizer rule in play. That meant that my Seer’s one disadvantage, its health, would be taken care of.

With the health equalizer rule, I was confident that my monsters were going to pulverize the opposition. Let’s see how true would my prediction be.

-------------******-----------------

The Face-Off

When the opponent and I got to see our monsters in the battle for the first time, things became pretty apparent. What things, you ask? That my Seer’s silence ability may not be used at all.

Games_MS_B1.jpg

Why? Well, the opposition’s two magic monsters were anyway having an attack value of just one. An attack value of one happens to be the base value of any attack, and it can’t be reduced further. So, the "silence" ability wouldn’t be of use. However, I still had an enhanced Seer with a big magic attack. That was good news still.

The battlefield had both my opponent and I choosing the Earth Splinter. Only the summoners were different. I had chosen the Wizard of Eastwood, who would reduce the opponent’s monsters’ armors, while the opponent’s choice was Lyanna Natura, who would enhance all her monster’s health by one. So, pretty even-steven at the beginning.

The opponent had chosen the Nectar Queen as his/her tank with an impressive attack value of five. That alone made me sweat a bit. The lineup also had the Screeching Vulture, which would be one heck of a monster with opportunity ability. The two magic monsters were good, but the opponent made a novice mistake. You see, in health equalizer rules, you should place the Furious Chicken and the Creeping Ooze in the front so that if the tank goes down, the opponent, which was me in this case, would be wasting time hitting non-consequential monsters like the Chicken and Ooze. Anyway, that played into my hands.

My choice was the Flesh Golem with its self-healing ability in the front. I hoped that it would stand against the mighty Nectar Queen. The Wood Nymph, in addition, would bolster the health of the tank, before she attacked. That would work for my Flesh Golem. I, too, went with the Screeching Vulture in my lineup. And last but not least, the Mushroom Seer. That was how we were placed.

Now, let the battle commence.

Mushroom Seer | Silent Assassin

As the game progressed, I realized I was the stronger one.

Games_MS_B2.jpg

I guess the Mushroom Seer and the Wood Nymph’s magic attacks were causing serious damage to the Nectar Queen. My Flesh Golem, on the other hand, because of healing and the Wood Nymph’s help, was gaining back health faster than losing it. So, that put me in the front before round one concluded.

Games_MS_B3.jpg

I was constantly denting the opponent’s chances. The Nectar Queen was long gone by round four while the opponent’s Screeching Vulture was on life support. My Flesh Golem, on the other hand, was growing stronger. It was a sign of things to come. None of my other monsters, including the Furious Chicken, lost health at all. That was game over for the opponent.

Well, almost.`

-------------******-----------------

The Battle Races to Conclusion

And I am not kidding. The battle was indeed racing to the conclusion.

Games_MS_B4.jpg

By round 5, the Vulture was gone, and the Enchanted Pixie was bearing the brunt of our attack. That too did not last too long as my Flesh Golem regained full health to take on the next magic monster in the opponent’s lineup.

Games_MS_B5.jpg

And that’s my Flesh Golem landing the final blow on the last of the attackers in the opponent’s lineup. That was it. The Furious Chicken and Creeping Ooze just took a few rounds of attack before they, too, perished.

And I won. Of course, we did not see the Mushroom Seer's full might, but at least, its attack capability was visible enough.

Do I Use the Mushroom Seer Often?

I bought the Mushroom Seer quite recently, so not used it in many battles. Whenever I do play the Earth Splinter with low or medium mana battles, the Seer finds its place in the team. After all, the Seer adds up as another summoner in the same battle. So, why not?

The only problem that I’ve had so far with the Seer is its health. With the opponent’s sneak, snipe, or opportunity monsters, there is a good chance that the Seer would be caught. But most of the time, it does the job before falling off. So, not a bad card to have.

Line_Divider_Spl.png

Where Else Does the Mushroom Seer Fit In?

One of the places where the Mushroom Seer fits in perfectly is the health-equalizer rule. The battle that we just saw was under that rule. It also would do well in the reverse-speed rule, where the slowest monsters attacked first, followed by the fastest. Needless to say, the Seer would be one of the firsts to attack.

One other rule which comes to mind is the armor rule. This could protect the Seer for few attacks if it is initiated by ranged and melee attackers. The few lost attacks because of the armor could well be the advantage on the Seer’s side.

There are places where the Seer could be a wrong choice. Like in the case of the poison or the earthquake rule, the Seer would be gone after a couple of rounds at the max. So, be careful where and when you use the Seer. 😊

Line_Divider_Spl.png

How Does the Seer Level Up?

The Mushroom Seer level ups well to my liking. The areas that I mentioned as weak are taken care of as the Seer levels up.

Games_MS_LvlUp.jpg

So, the health doubles to six at the Mushroom’s highest level, and the speed too increases to three. That makes it a decent monster in battle. Now, the attack value also increases to three, making it quite a potent card. But that’s not all.

At level five, the Seer also gets the “poison” ability. All of these put together make the Mushroom a one-of-a-kind card. It can not only attack but silence the opposition as much as poison those monsters which it attacks. What else would you want from a card? 😊

So, a good card as it levels up!

Mushroom Seer | A Monster That Punches Above Its Weight

I am sure you would have gauged by now how good the Mushroom Seer is and why I chose to buy it. It is one of those rare monsters which are rare in the marketplace too. So, go ahead and grab one. You won’t regret it! 😊
