Splinterlands | Life Leech | Ancient Lich Goes Ballistic!

Introduction

Splinterlands players and newbies alike would know the capabilities that each card possesses as much as the way to use it. While many such abilities work well in different scenarios, one is of particular interest to me. Which one, you ask? I am talking about the Life Leech ability.

In short, the ability is that when a monster with Life Leech attacks the opponent, it gains health. That means, if the monster with the Life Leech is sufficiently at the back of our lineup and it does not face too many attacks, its power becomes formidable by the time it has to come to the front. So, a monster with a feeble health value of 3 could end up having a health value of 30 by the time it reaches the front. That has to be cool.

I am sure some of you are still wondering what is Splinterlands all about. So, let me take a minute to talk about it.

What Game is Splinterlands?

Well, it is one of the earliest blockchain-based collectible games. Though I started playing the game quite late, I should have had gotten going early in hindsight. Anyway, no need to despair. There are so many opportunities no matter when you start.

Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn on the cards. It is one of the most generous games that I have seen where cards, potions, Dark Energy Crystals (DEC. Cryptocurrency) are given out every day to thousands of players for just playing and winning daily quests. And there are tournaments or guilds that you can join.

Just to give you an idea of a few of the uber-expensive cards, take a look at this recent purchase of Prince Julian at USD 3500.

Did you go to the link and see for yourself? I hope you did. And I hope that gives an overview of the game. I just love the game, and those interested can go to Splinterlands’ site and join. If you want a link to join, I will leave one at the end of the article, which you can use.

Life Leech

Coming back to our discussion today, I wanted to showcase one of my battles where I used a monster with the Life Leech ability. The monster I am referring to is the Ancient Lich.

The Ancient Lich belongs to the Death Splinter and is a magic attacker. At level 1, it has a magic attack value of 3. That alone is a big seller for the monster. However, when you add-on the Life Leech ability, the monster becomes formidable.

Now, I have to admit that the rule played its part to some extent. Being a health equalizer, the Ancient Lich’s potency reached a stratospheric level. The battle was interesting, nonetheless.

The Battle – Ancient Lich’s Uncanny Attack

The Enemy and Me

Both my opponent and I had chosen the Death Splinter. However, I couldn’t help but notice that the opponent’s choice of monsters was quite feeble compared to mine. Only the Undead Rexx in the first position was a monster of decent attack value. The rest could be found wanting in the battle.

For your information, my monsters are lined up on the lower side of the screen.

Barring the Haunted Spirit, all my monsters were magic attack monsters because the rule also had armor. So, no point wasting attacks using melee and ranged attackers. I went straight for the kill with the magic monsters, and of course, the Ancient Lich was the strongest of them all.

The Battle Begins

As the battle progressed, it was the Lich which took out the opponent’s Rexx.

Thereafter, the goings were relatively easier. None of the opponent’s monsters had an attack value of more than one. As you would have guessed, with one healing monster, one life leech, and one fast-flying monster, I was just too much. But the interesting part was the Ancient Lich’s growth.

Ancient Lich – In a Battle of Its Own

The Ancient Lich just grew in strength with each hit. It grew to this level:

And gained more strength:

And more until it peaked as the battle concluded.

That was some health value at the end of the battle. This was something I liked and hence thought of showing it to my fellow battle hardened players. 😊

So, that was one Interesting Battle!

I couldn’t let go of the battle without highlighting the levels that a monster with Leech ability could reach. At times, it becomes stronger than the strongest tank when it reaches the first position. Hence it is advisable to ensure that you play the life leech monsters whenever an opportunity comes by. And most of all enjoy playing it and watching it take a life of its own.

I hope you enjoyed reading. Have fun!

😊

Thanks for sharing! - @ashikstd

Well done with the Ancient Lich.
Once I've also reviewed this monster and this one seems very good especially for its life leech ability.
Keep on battling.
