Splinterlands | Zalran Efreet | Health Increase

avatar

Introduction

One of the abilities of the monsters that I am quite enamored with is the Life Leech. This ability makes a rather humble monster formidable by the time it is in the front. While I have witnessed life leech ability with both ranged and magic attackers, I have yet to see it with melee attackers. Maybe, the latter is not available. That said, between the ranged and magic attackers, the magic ones are more lethal and useful. Why, you ask?

The ranged attacker could garner all the life it could, but if it comes to the first position, it can’t attack. That’s the problem. However, that is not the case with the magic attackers. They can gather strength and, once in the front, take the attack to the opposition.

Here’s where the Zalran Efreet is one of my favorites.

Zalran is a monster card belonging to the Fire Splinter. It is a legendary card with magic ability. With a magic attack level of 2, it is a formidable monster even at the base level. When you level it up all the way to level four, it has cleanse, strengthen, and headwinds ability in addition to the life leech. How many monsters can boast of such armor? Not many, I guess.

Let’s see Zalran in action. But before that, let’s understand what Splinterlands is all about. Shall we?

What Game is Splinterlands?

Well, it is one of the earliest blockchain-based collectible games. Though I started playing the game quite late, I should have had gotten going early in hindsight. Anyway, no need to despair. There are so many opportunities no matter when you start.

Games_Splint1_LookFeel.jpg

Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn on the cards. It is one of the most generous games that I have seen where cards, potions, Dark Energy Crystals (DEC. Cryptocurrency) are given out every day to thousands of players for just playing and winning daily quests. And there are tournaments or guilds that you can join.

Just to give you an idea of a few of the uber-expensive cards, take a look at this recent purchase of Prince Julian at USD 3500.

Did you go to the link and see for yourself? I hope you did. And I hope that gives an overview of the game. I just love the game, and those interested can go to Splinterlands’ site and join. If you want a link to join, I will leave one at the end of the article, which you can use.

Zalran Efreet | The Life Leech

As I had mentioned earlier, the Zalran is quite good for his magic attack of 2. However, every other ability that the monster brings to the table is an added attraction. The Life Leech ability is at the forefront of it and is available from the base level itself.

One of the notable things is that the Life Leech ability gets enhanced when the Health Rule is in play. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know why. As the monsters' health is elevated to the highest available, it is only natural that the Life Leech monsters will be potent with the increased health. And that’s what happened to me, luckily. The battle in question had a health rule in play that made the already formidable Efreet unbeatable.

But you would like to see the battle, wouldn’t you? The best way to acknowledge the Efreet’s power is to witness it in battle.

So, let’s go.

Zalran Efreet in Battle

I chose Fire Splinter for battle, while the opponent chose Dragon Splinter. However, since the opponent chose “Fire” as the combination team with the Dragon, it almost became a fire vs. fire battle.

Here’s how both the teams appeared at the face-off.

Games_ZE_B1.jpg

Both of us had the Lord of Fire, which increased all the monsters' health by one. Also, the opponent’s Molten Ogre had the effect of reducing all melee attackers' value by one. However, my Summoner negated that effect by increasing the attack value of all monsters by one. As such, the net effect was that there was no change in the attack value.

In addition to all this, the opponent’s Summoner provided all his monsters with an additional shield. This could be a game-changer in many battles. Let’s see how it is for us.

-------------------------******-------------------------------

The Battle Begins

At the first go, there was hardly any movement with the Zalran still managing to increase its health by one. Here is how it looked.

Games_ZE_B2.jpg

But the opponent soon lost his Gloridax Soldier in the first position bringing the Molten Ogre to the front.

Games_ZE_B3.jpg

Notice that all the while, Efreet’s health is still increasing. It has reached a health value of 14.

-------------------------******-------------------------------

Racing Towards Victory

It was still not clear who was racing towards victory, the opponent or me. The only plus point for me was the Efreet still gaining on strength and the fact that the Living Lava still held the fort for my monsters.

Games_ZE_B4.jpg

The opponent’s monsters in the second and third positions still had their shield on. The only solace for me was that the opponent’s Kobold Bruiser was the last of his Melee attackers. Should the Bruiser fall, it exposes the ranged attackers who cannot attack from the first position.

Games_ZE_B5.jpg

And that’s what happened. The Bruiser exposed the ranged monsters, which soon lost out to the continuous attack. The Efreet was growing all the while.

Games_ZE_B6.jpg

But before long, the final blow was dealt on the opponent. The game was over, and within nine rounds, the Zalran had grown to a health value of 20. It was yet to reach the first position. So, my choice of monsters was great, in hindsight.

So, that was the Battle

I hope you enjoyed watching the battle. So, the Zalran Efreet proves to be a great attack monster provided it gets enough time to build up its health. Remember, the health rule also added to the charm. Keep in mind to use monsters with Life Leech ability as you get into battles with the health rule. It is a sure winner.

Keep playing and have fun!! 😊
