Splinterlands - Death Elemental Weekly Battle Post

image.png

Ever since Alpha/Beta came out with Elementals the two splinters that missed theirs was fire and death. Along came the Untamed cards and then the set was completed.

Earth Elemental
Wind Elemental
Water Elemental
Fire Elemental
Death Elemental

In that particular order I wrote is my opinion on which elemental is the best at the top and worse at the bottom. You may have already guessed that I do not use much of Death Elemental as I prefer to go with Screaming Banshee or Fallen Specter. The speed and magic for death is good enough for me to play either of those versus Death Elemental. Besides the snipe ability kind of takes away the magic benefit on DE since I prefer it stacking in attack on individual monster versus the weakest. Sometimes 1 magic attack simply does little to no damage toward the weakest opponent's monster.

Since my main account only has a level 1 Death Elemental (DE) and I am playing through the final day before season ends I prefer to only use cards in matches that I have potential of winning. Therefore for the sake of this post and the use of the DE I will play it on a lower ranking account that is delegated to me. Here is the match.

The rule set was little league with mana limited to 19. Match also limited to either fire or death splinter. Since I needed a low mana match to benefit using Death Elemental I thought this was a prefect time to use it. My opponent thought the same and when comparing formations we both had the similar strategy. The strategy was to start off with melee monster followed up by magic and range monsters. That way in first round all monsters could attack.

Round 1

My Skeletal Warrior I personally believe is one of the most overlooked rare since its a rewards card. Yet low mana of 2 and have toughness at 2 while health at 3 for just a level 3 version of it. In my main I have a max level and often use it in low mana death formations.

Within the first round my formation held intact while my opponent lost Cursed Slimeball and Fallen Specter.

Round 2

By round two my opponent took out my Death Elemental but in return I knocked out Shadowy Presence. Then we exchange monster losses as my Skeleton is knocked out and in return their Dwarven Wizard.

Round 3

By round three their Undead Archer was knocked out and what was left was range attack Dark Astronomer. This was pretty much the end as Dark Astronomer could not attack at the front of the formation and I still had four monsters in my lineup.

Round 4

With one more hit from my Screaming Banshee the match was over.

Conclusions

The low mana matches and restriction of use of splinters fit very well to have low mana monsters to use. The death splinter have plenty of 2 and 3 mana monsters to use and since my formation started off with a melee monster I wanted to have a supporting cast in magic and range attack. In the end the plan executed pretty well and I got out with a win.
