The main point is that it's a binary tournament structure, so you should have binary steps in your prize tiers.
Let's say that in 3rd round for tournament it starts with 8 players but ends with 4. Do you know how the 5,6,7,8 ranking is decided? Do you know how qualifying rounds are figured in?
If you don't know the answers to these questions then you should stick to binary steps.
