The record NFT sale - 1.5 million USD and few words about the land NFTs

And there it is, we have a winner, as on February 8th, three days ago, one NFT sale made the first millionaire, as the user known as Flying Falcon bought a Genesis estate 9 land plot from Axie.Infinity game for almost 889 Ethereum (today this is more than $1.5M).

This sale smashed all the revious records, and this take place 10 days after the launch on the new mainnet (Ronin) for the Axie game. If you never heard of this, Axie Infinity is a pokemon inspired game, where you can play battles agains other players or against computer generated teams. Each team has 3 Axies (and each Axie is an unique NFT, with different skills or abilities).

Recently the game introduced the land NFT, and the Genesis ones are the most expensive, limited supply lands, with unique estetic and central positioning in the Axie land system. You can build, decorate property, harvest resources and battle NPC monsters named Chimeras.

What is it more important is that other games have a similar initiative, like for example Splinterlands, which recently just finished the land sale at discounted price. They will also use them for resources, booster building, battle monsters and special rewards who cannot be bought, and they are just harvested from the lands, with the posibility to create items that can be used during the NFT card battle. Splinterland is using Hive blockchain, with minimal fees for sale/buy.

Another similar experiment, but somehow different,
was Leagues of Kingdoms, where you could buy land, and you are rewarded DAI stablecoins and in-game resources, but here the land is the only NFT, on ETH network (hefty fees to transfer right now, so not good) if i do not count the resources NFT that you can make and sale (again, not a good bussines at the moment, as you pay fee for creating, selling on Opensea and sending to the buyer.
