'Battle of the Androids' - New Original Music - 30 Minute Songwriting Challenge, Inspired by Splinterlands! Electronic/Instrumental + Walkthrough!
I decided to go for
another timed challenge, as I haven't done that in a while, and this is the result. I began by building up the synths, and towards the end, added another 'Newscool' percussion track, and some hihats to round it out. Overall, I like the general idea, though I think perhaps the basic harmony part is 2x too long, and the chord changes should happen sooner, then just repeat 2x, instead of playing once through over the course of 16 bars. That being said, I'm happy with the general idea, and think maybe I'll revisit this and allow myself more time to work on it.

Tracks 1 and 3 provide
some soundscapey/spacey ambience in the background which swells in and out at various points. Track 2 (pictured below) provides the bass notes, G, F, E, and F, then repeat. Track 4 provides the little melody line, also pictured below, which is a rhythmic synth, and with the slightly off-beat midi-mapping, provides a really interesting sort of counterpoint to what is happening below it, with a much more straight-forward rhythm. Track 5 adds some harmonizing, filling out our chords more. Track 6 is the Newscool drums, Track 7 a little transitional sound which was a last minute addition, and Track 8, the hihats.
Track 2, Bass Notes.
