So this is what I came up

with last night: I extended the length of the song, and added some new instruments to fill in some parts, and make them much more interesting. Track 1 in the above screenshot is the original song. Instead of editing the entire original Ableton session (since I was low on space before clearing 10 gigs today), I just put the original track there and added on top of it. It mostly worked out, though there are two instruments added over the breaks that I really don't like, and take away from the wonky vibe, making it just feel off-beat and incorrect, like a mistake, lol.

Listen to The Headhunter's Hut here.

Track 2 is blank,

and was going to be where I put some little audio clips for transitions, accents, swells, and such. That will be probably be in Part 3, which I'll do tonight. Track 3 provide a new synth, which is rather quiet, but does fill in the background a bit more, sort of mirroring one of the original melody lines, with a few slight variations. Track 4 is also really subtle, just adding a single note to the middle of each measure. I also wanted this over the break, but upon listening with good monitors, I realized it didn't work at all. Track 5 is, without a doubt, my favorite addition. It was a midi instrument, but as I said, I was running out of HD space last night, so I recorded it as an audio clip instead. It plays the minor 2nd trill sort of thing, between the B-G# and Gmaj7-A-G# sections, which really helps to connect those two parts.

Track 3, new melody accompaniment.

Track 6 is, for sure,

going to be deleted. This was (along with part of Track 4) what I added over the breaks, and definitely sucks. On my laptop speakers, the quick triplet line sounded much more like a single tone, with all the reverb and delay, but when I listened with 'real' speakers, I immediately realized you could hear the attack of each note, and they were all off beat, and just didn't work. Something will go over the bass... but I've yet to find out what, haha.

Hope you enjoy the changes! Stay tuned for Part 3!
