UPDATE - NO! We can't raise DEC value by buying cards using DEC (just potions)

(Edited)

This is what stood out the most to me while reading the latest steemmonsters devlog update.

DEC'ing it up

Whenever you buy a card using DEC through the ingame store instead of using STEEM or any other card marketplace like peakmonsters, that DEC is going to be burned! That means that DEC amount will stop being an active asset. It will lower overall offer, raising prices.

Do you want to see the value of DEC go up? Then you should pay with DEC when you buy cards you would have bought anyway, either by getting some through steem-engine or using your own DEC earnt from ranked battles.

UPDATE - thanks @mannaman

Love the idea. Wish more tokens offer compelling burning features.

Yes, I love it too!

compelling burning features

Those can be developed by third parties though. Like me! I have that ad widget on steemmonsters.club displaying posts that BURNED either SBD or steem-engine tokens over the past 30 days! What's best, anyone can take my widget in an iframe and put it on their own website.

We have also developed a post feed with customizeable curated content. You can preview it referencing SPT voters on .club as well. I intend to use both on more websites in the near future.

Didn't know that. It's a good way to encourage people to burn STEEM.

I don't think the DEC if burnt, 95% it goes to the seller of the card as 5% to the UI that sold the card, none of them burn a portion of rewards as far as I'm aware.

The DEC is burnt. It is the official statement. If you use any other token as payment, they are not burnt though. This is their policy only for DEC.

When I sell a card and the buyer pays in DEC I receive the DEC in my in game wallet, so it is not burnt. The other 5% goes to the market seller, so peak monsters/steemmonsters etc. Peak monsters definitely doesn't burn it and I believe steemmonsters uses it for tournaments.

No, only the DEC used to purchase packs is used that way.

The cost of each pack in DEC will still be $2 based on the current market price of DEC, just like when purchasing with any other cryptocurrency. It's important to note that DEC used to purchase Beta packs will not be burnt like it is for other in-game DEC purchases, but instead will go to Splinterlands as revenue for the business. We intend to put this DEC back into tournament prizes and/or save it to use for other promotional purposes. We never sell DEC either directly or through the markets.

I thought "ingame purchases" included buying cards through their market, but I guess it doesn't, then. Thanks for clearing it up.
