Splinterlands Sunday!: Using the Mobile App this Season

I originally avoided using the mobile application for the Splinterlands game given the warning the developers had given of potential losses due to glitches. Given that the release occurred midway during the previous Season, I did not want to risk the ranked points given the recent challenges to get into the highest Champions Division and losing out on rewards which continue to demonstrate their value given their newfound scarcity (in my opinion). However, I decided to go almost all in to start the new Season as the user interface is really great to play with and much easier than using the mobile browser interface I had been for some time now given the fact that I play during the day in between breaks in the office.

I think this is a great achievement considering the development it takes to put this together. Unfortunately, they have yet to actually create an application for the different mobile stores as it has become increasingly challenging to do so when an application is associated with a cryptocurrency. However, this is a great starting place as it allows for an easy way to play while mobile which is probably the fastest growing segment of the gaming market today. Given how prevalent the smartphone market has been, the amount of people playing on their devices has substantially increased.

Despite the slow load times when starting the mobile application, the time to maneuver through the mobile website is very quickly afterwards. I have actually saved the link as an application on my mobile phone to have quick access to it so that I can take advantage of my Energy Capture Rate throughout the day although time has been limited for me this Season so far. With DEC becoming more difficult to earn, anything to make the game more accessible is great. I was happy to win my first game while trying it!

Only the ranked battling is available so far but I am sure that tournaments will eventually make it into the mobile app. You can also browse through your Collection of Cards but that is about it as the markets for cards, packs, and potions are not available yet. However, considering that it is better to use our wallets in secure setups, that should not be a surprise. Also, the Guilds portion is not yet active. However, the availability for them to be added is there as the sections refer you to the full website if you would like. The reality is that it is a great start and I hope that it attracts more players to the game.

There seems to be multiple catalysts for the game to continue its growth at the moment as it seems that every Season more new players are rising to highly levels and joining the community. I have not seen the latest statistics from the ecosystem but I am sure that they continue to be encouraging despite all the noise going around Steem in general. Card prices seem to be holding up which can be a great signal for some of the slower times we have seen after the Kickstarter. I am sure that there are still great things to come this year for us the players!
