Genie from the lamp....!

Today I rearranged the things in the storeroom because of the termites. I found this lamp, an old one which was used by us when there is no electricity in our area.
This one has memories, I used to study and write homework by sitting very close to this lamp. This is a kerosene lamp. I still remember the smell of kerosene burning.
Things were very different in this light at that time, all are very beautiful. Everything inside the home and people are very alive and lovely when we saw through this light. Some shade or darkness without full light makes things more beautiful.

The memories come out like a genie from this lamp. My father used to light his cigarette from this flame. If the cotton wick burned out to the bottom my mom used to pull it out a little bit out with a safety pin.
In rainy season flying insects used to attracted by the flame and they crawl here and there around the lamp. To get rid of the crawling insects, we put this lamp on a wide plate with water in it. Insects will hit and fell down in the water.
I love this light, those days were beautiful. Now with bright lights, everything is pale and not alive.
