New communities, new tokens - the real SMTs already launched?

PALnet, Splintertalk etc - hype or promises realized?

These days, some old Steem veterans might read everywhere about new frontends, forks, tokens, DApps, communities and more. Hardly anyone writes about SMTs aka Smart Media Tokens anymore. Did the team around @aggroed - the new head of the blockchain - develop what others were not able to launch as planned? It seems we have now the scenario of Communities already. Steemmonsters is one great example which now has several in-game tokens, a community forum and its own frontend where you can earn own tokens as well as Steem. Interesting cross token opportunities are possible now. For people with a real life job it is still a bit confusing but I am getting there slowly. As a monster gaming addict it is a no brainer to be part of this community. But many new communities are rising now - exciting times ahead.

Communities will bring in new Steem users and eventually investors

Taking a look at the different community frontends it is obvious the "trending" pages look different and are hopefully able to attract new investors, users and community member for the Steem Blockchain. I have high hopes here and hope the new HF is not destroying what community people have driven here to make this place the best blockchain.

What are your thoughts about the recent developments? Will it drive the importance of the Steem blockchain and helps raising the Steem price as well? Are you starting your own community too?

That is all good. But if everyone want to be the creator and own a token...and be the boss... and get rich... none of the tokens will value at all... lol

That depends I think on the community and its value

I am super siked about these development and honestly I have the feeling that the whole idea of SMT can better set sail, and the steem-engine should be the one to take over..but who am I ;)

I'm collecting various tokens. DEC at least have some value to me as I can buy votes with then so I have been playing SM a bit more. I've not looked at Splintertalk yet, but communities are something I think we really need. People want to form them around whatever they are into and just using tags is not really enough. I think Steemit are working on it, but we have been waiting a long time.

Me too - my favourite ones are DEC and Beer tokens :-). To me this is a good thing and kind of start into community area - fingers crossed we see a major jump for the entire blockchain!

I’m really enjoying Pal net and splinter y’all it’s great people really love to interact more and they’re getting more “rewards” sees people feeling like their engagement means more! Bit of a psychological trip

I think it will only be the start and more niche sites will be using this tech to build Their own spin off communities!

I'm apart of the Splinterlands AKA Steem, Monsters community- wherever they are - I'm at! LOL! I love DEC too! The day of the burn 2019! I will never forget! LOL!! People were going nuts burning all their cards including me!

I know @clove71 - you are the heart of the Splinterlands and always positive and helpful which the community appreciates a lot.

i think you are right. The only thing communities need too, is a easy way for account cration.

So there can onboard new people

True but I think that has way improved and there are easy and fast onboarding options now.

This is all very exciting and something that is already creating ripple effects in all directions. As you wrote, it is getting difficult to keep up with the development. I like that.

Yes man! Steem moves from the "boring" phase to a very active surrounding which is awesome!

This is a bit confusing for me and I actually just learned about the PALnet and will check it out too, but Steemit will always be my priority and I just hope that it will help steemit instead of hurting it.

I think we all should be aware that Steemit is not Steem, Steemit is just a condenser / frontend on the Steem Blockchain. All these new communities and frontends such as PALnet are based on Steem and hence supporting the chain which is the most important thing here.

It’s great but I think it should be checked. Lots of people are creating their own communities and I think having 10 great and recognized communities is better than a 100 unsupervised communities. I know it’s supposed to offer freedom, but there still has to be a limit.
