Splinterlands Stormy Challenge

(Edited)

This week's share your battle challenge involves using a card from the Death splinter.

A newcomer who is very fast and strong. Endurance isn't its strength, however you might have a hard time landing a hit on it.

It is the eye of the storm

Without further ado let's look into it!

Theme: Soulstorm

The Soulstorm is an epic card from the untamed edition.

It is extremely fast and has the ability to fly, which makes it very hard to hit. This could come in handy against cards with the opportunity ability.

It starts with a ranged attack of 3, pretty strong if you think about it.

Having a mana cost of 5 makes it unavailable for little league though.

It can be yours for 0.36 $.

I believe this is appropriate, since the upgrades are very much worth it. It can learn up to four different abilities at maximum level.

At level 2 Soulstorm learns the ability of snare, great against the likes of Phantasm.

This is one of the few epic cards that is able to learn a second ability at level 2.

Since it was released during the untamed series, you'll need more cards to level up.

Where to use

Soulstorm should be used on the following rulesets:

  • Equalizer
  • Earthquake
  • Matches with high mana cap

With Equalizer the main disadvantage of the Soulstorm vanishes.

On Earthquake Soulstorm is one of the most valuable assets.

It won't get damaged after each turn and it can eliminate the rivals flying ability.

The Battle

This Battle took place in a ranked match.

It involves the ruleset of "Earthquake"

This battle is ideal for the Soulstorm, not only is Soulstorm immune to Earthquake, the mana cap is high enough for bringing many strong monsters.

My Lineup

  1. Phantasm: It's like Soulstorm but common and with Melee. Fast and able to fly. Great for this situation

  2. Spirit Miner: Increases the speed of everyone, making the Phantasm harder to hit.

  3. Boogeyman: Another great card for this setup. Decreases the speed of my rival cards. Makes a dynamic duo with the Spirit Miner.

  4. Soulstorm: The eye of storm. Strong, fast and able to fly.

  5. Grim Reaper: At level 3 it has a ranged attack of 4. Considering the Mana cost is a must have.

  6. Octopider: At level 3 it is able to demoralize the rivals. This combined with the splinter reduces the melee attacks considerably.

In terms of level we were pretty even. My rival had three cards at higher levels and a strong legendary.

My splinter however countered my rival's as his melee boost was nullified.

The synergy between my cards made my Phantasm very hard to hit. It also made my team way faster.

In the end this was the defining factor as my rival was overwhelmed. I only lost my Grim Reaper.

The strategy used for this battle is pretty much the same as the one I used for the Phantasm challenge. During that Battle my lineup was quite similar and my Soulstorm survived

See you in the Battlefield!

Nice line-up! I use death a lot, but I haven't used the soulstorm too much, I need to try and incorporate it more.
