Swift and dangerous - weekly battle challenge

The Brownie is an excellent card. For only 1 mana point this little guy contributes to the team with 2 of the best buffs in Splinterlands.

Swiftness improves speed. For me, one of the most important statistics of each card, as our cards are faster can hit the enemy earlier and sometimes knock him down without him attacking.

Then Brownie at level 4 acquires the Inspire skill that increases one point of damage to our melee monsters, making them more lethal.

For these reasons I think it's a card that can't be missing in our ground team when we have little mana.

let's see the Brownie in action in the next battle

The line up

  • First I used the Stone Golem as my main tank die of envy Flesh Golem, the Stone Golem is a strong monster that can withstand damage thanks to his Shield skill and also has the Stun skill that I love because sometimes it leaves the enemy monster unusable, maybe it's a little slow but our little friend Brownie will help us with that.

  • Then I put the Furious Chicken in second place because... It costs zero mana!

  • I decided to place the Goblin Cheff in third place for two reasons, firstly because it is a battle with little mana and face a monster that heals itself as the Sea Monster or the Flesh Golem would be very likely and the Affliction would be decisive. Second to protect the other 2 monsters that were left behind.

  • The star of the team, the Brownie, to buff them all up with Swiftness and also give my Stone Golem one more damage point.

  • And finally another amazing low mana cost card, the Swamp Thing, which will reduce the life and speed of the opposing team while dealing 2 points of damage each turn.

The strategy work?

Using Brownie on our green team will always work, unless we are talking about reverse speed or high mana battles where we would have to use very powerful monsters and even then, it might not be a bad idea to use him in those conditions, he is a broken card!

In this particular battle, my opponent made the mistake of placing too few monsters, which although they looked strong, had no support from other allies. In these battles with little mana sometimes it is better to use several cards that buffer each other and weaken the enemy, the Affliction ability of the Goblin Cheff had no effect on this battle but I could have entered and removed the annoying heal of the Spirit of the Forest for example, also if my team was not Brownie or Swamp Thing most likely was not fast enough to achieve a blow.

And what do you think of this strategy? Do you think it's better to use a couple of strong monsters instead of several minions when we have little mana?

Atlhough brownie helped in attack I think like you said your opponent was setup to fail by putting Spirit of Forest up in front. With no defense and average health for a high mana card it is essentially a punching bag. Although decent range attack it is nothing compared to other high mana cards. Congrats on the win.

I think he was thinking that the Fliying and Heal Tank skills would give him an advantage, and maybe if he had used Brownie + Swamp Thing instead of the vulture he would have gotten more out of it. He should have used a chicken too, come on, it's free!

Thanks for stopping by.

I totally agree with you. I almost always prefer to break up into as many monsters as I can rather than going for one or two big hitters. Nice win.
