Splinterlands Card Review - Defender of Truth ~ Epic Life Element
Hi everyone, this is my first post in PEAKD and here I want to share my opinion about one of the life element card, DEFENDER OF TRUTH. I am interested to discuss about this card after I read the weekly battle challenge about it, and of course I will put a pair of my battle challenge videos later in this post too.
lets starts from reviewing this card first... 😎
This guy in knight armor is definitely a Jack ff All Trade, master of none, good for nothing. He has one point of magic attack, his speed isn't bad either, 3 Health which is a decent one for a mage, and one armor for his defense. He doesn't seem so bad, but honestly I can't see how he can perform in any of your life element formation. He can't even compete against a Light Elemental (4 Mana and 2 Magic Attack) or a Djinn Renova (6 Mana, 2 Magic Attack, and a Strengthen buff)
However on his 3rd level, he will gain a Protect Buff which gives 2 armor to all his companions. He becomes the Life Version of Venari Wavesmith, a magic attack monster with a defensive buff. This new ability can solve the most common pitfall of setting up a life element deck which is bringing too many defensive ability monster then your total attack become dull and you end up being a sandbag.

If you play on early tier league, Bronze to Silver League, you better forget about DEFENDER OF TRUTH. Without his Protect Buff, Defender of Truth is a flop. Buying or renting Light Elemental seems alot reasonable option, same mana cost with higher magic attack.
However if you play on mid tier league, Silver to Gold league, Defender of Truth might be your main life element card selection. I can't say any for high tier league, Gold-Diamond league, because I haven't played there.
OK now the BATTLE CHALLENGES!!!
Regarding to its Protect ability, I pick Chanseus the Great as my main Summoner. He is the only one who can perfectly utilize the armors given by The Defender of Truth 💪 💪
BATTLE CHALLENGES #1
40 mana battle, Opportunity and Divine Shield rule.
These were 3 monsters I picked as the main actors for this battle

And of course 2 more healers without further introduction. As we could see, only Crystal Werewolf which was not performing well because the opponent didn't bring a bunch of magicians. Formation overall worked very well, overpowering opponent as usual. Defender of Truth performed very well, he joined Djinn Renova as the main damage dealers and he managed to help ShieldBearer by adding more armors, and helped Venery Crystalsmith in avoiding taking damage from opponent Return Fire ability.
BATTLES CHALLENGES #2
23 Mana Battle, Divine Shield and Close Range Rule.
At first, in 23 mana battle, I thought I was going to meet a bunch of water magicians lead by Alric and his beloved Venari Wavesmith (really, I don't know why that formation is very popular). Therefore I decided to bring these 3 monsters:

It didnt work as I planned before. My opponent was using anti mage formation too. It turned to a boring match, decided by a fatigue damage in the end. However this match showed that Defender of Truth's Protect ability managed to lead the team to win.
Well, thats my review and battle challenges. Remember again, especially for you who still play in Bronze league, dont bother to look at Defender of Truth... He wont be usefull until you can bring out his Protect Ability.

As you said, I still cannot find better usage of Defender of Truth.
I may skip this week's battle challenge.
