Documenting My Splinterlands Knowledge - Join the Splinterlands Discord

avatar

Hello there.

In my previous post I wrote about how to start playing Splinterlands. To help new players who are just starting I'll write my posts in a such a way of what I will do if I created a new account.

After creating your account, I would recommend joining the Splinterlands discord. Before the different updates that the game has undergone I would have discussed about the cards, rentals, strats, and other things. But now, I think joining the SPL discord is essential. You can't earn thru playing without using owned/rented/delegated cards. But as a new player you don't know what to buy/rent. That's where the SPL Discord comes in.

Most of the things I know and will share, I learned there. You can ask for help and questions, and the members are always willing to help. If you still have the 3000 credits from your spellbook purchase, you can ask around and you will get different opinions to help you decide. As for my opinions, that will be my next post. For now, join the SPL discord and let me give you a tour.

You can join the discord by clicking the discord image at the bottom of the SPL website:

After reading the community guidelines and doing any anti-bot feature, you should now see the SPL discord.

- Official announcement channel
This is where the team posts the major news and updates to the game. Some of the notable topics are "Game updates", "New set news", "New partnerships news", "Townhall summaries", "New game announcement", and "New proposal updates".

- Official links channel
In crypto, a lot of links and fake contracts are dangerous. So the team has provided most of the essential links to the game in this channel

- Tech updates channel
This channel is where maintenance updates are posted so you can plan your rentals in the future.

- Trivia channel
If you are interested in the game's lore, and also want to earn packs, you can join the contest and try to win.

- Tavern channel
This is where most people hang out. They discuss a lot of things Splinterlands related like the new updates, game, cards, strats, etc. You can ask your questions here. I don't usually lurk here a lot, but in some of the times I do there have been a lot of generous players to new players. Some delegate cards, some delegate hive RC, some do giveaways especially after EOS. Just remember to follow the community guidelines when posting here.

- Mavericks house channel
This is where the whales reside. To be a maverick, a player needs to purchase at least 1000 packs from the in-game store and inform the SPL discord mods. Only the mavs can post in this channel, but it is open for all. I check this channel out from time to time to see what the whales are doing/planning. I have seen how they manipulate the rental market by renting the limited cards and renting out their own copies for higher amounts, taking advantage of bot farms. You can learn a lot about the future of the game by reading here from time to time.

- Gameplay strategy channel
I don't usually visit this channel, but people share their battles and tips here as well.

- Guild recruitment channel
Since Merits can now be earned as rewards in chests, joining a guild is now very important or you lose that earning aspect of the game. Apart from the guild store where you can use your Merits, guilds give bonuses on your earnings. As a new player try to find a guild that is beginner friendly, where they don't have mandatory DEC contributions, just brawl participation. Good guilds usually offer guidance, card delegations, guild rewards, and other information.

- Tech support channel
If you are encountering problems with your game, or want an official SPL staff to answer your questions, you can ask here.

- RC issues requests
Since SPL runs on Hive, a lot of the actions you do use RC or Resource Credits. When you do a lot of actions like renting, flipping cards, etc, you can run out. You can try asking for RC delegation here and sometimes people delegate.

- Community Sharing
There are a lot of channels under Community Sharing. Some of them are websites, videos, blog posts, promos, and giveaways. If you want to increase your card collection, you can join the different SL Giveaway Posts. Always be careful when clicking links.

- Languages
At the bottom of the SPL Discord, there are different language channels. You can talk in your native language there, meet your countrymen, and share information there as well. I have heard of some events hosted by players where they do Splinterland battles between country representative. You might also find a guild full of your countrymen.

Continue playing and learning the game. Try to be active in the SPL discord and join the events/giveaways. Hopefully you win some and start increasing your card collection. In my next post, I'll share the different ways you can use your 3000 credits.
