Yes, this card can be very brutal, but have one big condition:

All melee monsters can attack from any positions

Yes, it´s melee mayhem, where you can use Exploding Dwarf. Why?

When you have your dwarf on the 3rd level or highter, he has piercing and thats perfect.

Try to level him on level 4, you will get: 4/4 with Blast + Piercing and if you play with basic Fire summoner, you will get +1 on attack. Thats awesome, if you can use him from your 3 position and use him more times, it´s one of the best DMG of all time for small mana cap.
