Battle challenge is on again, fire spitting time!

Another week another challenge (I'm sure nobody noticed, but I actually skipped last weeks challenge :-P). Fire spitter is up: a dragon card. Gotta say, since dragon splinter is often costly and not one of my go-to-summoners I don't play it often. But I'm happy to make an exception for this one.

So, let's jump in and check it out:

The card

The Fire Spitter is a dragon card costing 4 mana and has quite well rounded stats, 2 ranged damage, 4 speed is pretty quick at level 1 and 4 hp is not bad either. It's quite similar to Spark Pixies I think, as it also has the fly ability to avoid earthquake damage and increased dodge chance combined with high speed (the Spitter having just one less speed point). However you will see in a bit I didn't make optimal use of those stats. The damage output is quite good though, let's see how it's used in battle.

Strategy

Now for the rules of this duel :

Mana: 30

  1. Aim true: all melee and ranged attacks WILL hit
  2. Lost magic: No magic monsters allowed this battle!

Since aim true is effective, any dodge skills, such as flying, don't do anything in this case unless of course combined with the earthquake rule which isn't the case here. So the fly skill and the high speed aren't AS MUCH of an advantage as usual. I say "as much" because speed obviously does have an advantage in attack order, getting those early hits in is important especially with 2 damage for this one!

I'll let you have a look at the start setup for both teams:

So here we can see, as magic won't be used shields are very useful, even more so the shield ability is extremely strong as it reduces incoming melee and ranged damage, the only two we will see in this one :-)

Living Lava is the obvious choice here. Since we're going dragon and I only have one summoner boosting shield that is a plus. Sometimes I like using a lot of melee when I play Malric but this time I backed it up with many ranged in the back since I figured the Lava could take quite some hits.

Unfortunately my opponent might have seen this coming and used a ranged atk debuff with Naga Windmaster (Headwinds skill). This did hurt a little bit taking a total of 2 atk points away from my team. It was also one of the first times I used my newly rented Vigilator and too be honest this card played a bigger role than the Fire Spirit I'm afraid.

Another big obstacle is my opponents tank: the kraken!! Whenever I face this one I'm doubtful about any winning chance, so much health, good atk, speed and shield and even draws all the attention with taunt making my monsters focus solely on this beast..

Now even though my pyromancer has sneak which would normally let him target the last monster on the team, all my monsters will attack that Kraken at least until it's destroyed.

Pretty strong teams on both sides I'd say!

Time for battle

Alright I could give you a play by play with hundred screenshots and every move written out, but that will probably just waste both our time, let's just watch the fight and evaluate after okay? Enjoy it here:

Watch the battle now!

Conclusion

Wow, that Kraken went down quicker then expected, even with the debuff on two ranged characters. Lava survived juuuust long enough to beat the Kraken and after that it was easy pickings for the Vigilator while the Pyromancer started working on the back row.

In the end it seemed like an easy fight but I hadn't expected it from first looks!

Fire Spitter didn't really shine here but played a role nonetheless it shared high speed with the rest of my team compared to way lower speed numbers on opponents team..

How would you use the Fire Spitter, do you play it at all?

And do you think I should have done anything different? Let me know in the comments and hope you enjoyed this weeks battle!

Cheers :-)

Thank you @mango-juice! Wasn't expecting the headwind to debuff my team liek this but in the end it was alright, looking forward to the next card to battle with in the challenge.

I like how you often never used the card and thus need to rent/buy it and learn new stuff this way, always good to get more knowledge on different cards and play styles.
