Splinterlands - Daily Quest Agony

Well, it only took 21 battles, but I finally finished my daily quest. A Life Quest. That's five wins and sixteen loses. Which highlights an inherent problem with Splinterlands, in my opinion. That is the imbalance of power within leagues. I'm in the Bronze league. The Bronze league is the lowest competitive league so there shouldn't be so much trouble finishing a quest.

A big part of the problem is that battles in the Bronze league rarely have rules applied to them. So, there is very little strategy. This means whoever has the better cards will win. Or, in this case, whoever has the better Splinter.

When you're starting out, you don't have many monsters to choose from. And the Life Splinter is very weak in attack monsters. In a battle with no rules, you are not going to win many fights using the Life Splinter. You just won't have enough attack power. Bronze league matches usually have low mana limits too. Which also doesn't help.

The screenshot above is from my 21st, and final, quest battle. My opponent made the mistake of putting a ranged monster in the first slot. This was possibly due to their limited options due to the Little League rule. This rule limits you to monsters with 4 mana or less. See? Strategy. If not for that rule, I would probably have lost this battle and still be trying to complete my quest.

There have been some major changes to Splinterlands recently. And, there are more to come. I'm hopeful that the developers will make the balance of power more equitable.

If you haven't checked out Splinterlands, I highly suggest you do. There are some exciting changes coming soon. Plus, you can play games and earn crypto while doing so.
