The Mortis Gazette - Beluroc's Best News

Local Youngsters Toying with Fate

A new trend is sweeping our fair city of Beluroc, Black Ice Martinis. While on the surface you may find this to be a simple and inoffensive drink, the reality is far from the truth.

Using crushed bits of ice from the black glacier, underground pubs and taverns have begun quietly selling these drinks. While no known effects have been noticed, surely the inclusion of this foreign substance can do nothing but good for our fair youth.

No doubt the arrival of this fad is part of an undead ploy to convert our youth to their way of thinking. Be warned and be aware!

Protestors Converge at The Forest of Life

Leader of the self-proclaimed Wardens of the Wood, Ashton Reynard, has declared the forest a no logging zone, flying in the face of local regulations. Long has the Forest of Life been both a source of timber as well as a prime breeding ground for wildlife in the region, a backbone of the Mortis economy this side of The Raysco Range. When reached for comment, Ashton stated the following:

"The lumbermen in the area are not abiding by the laws of the Forest. If they continue their logging as they have, these wild lands won't last. They are the lifeblood of our city and the entire region. The Council must address this with stricter regulations immediately."

Not all in the area share this conviction. Taitum Verd, head shipwright of Verdant Ships and Cargo, had this to say:

"Listen, I understand those kids want to see the forest all healthy and whatnot. But guess what, its wood. We need wood. What are we supposed to do? Get raw logs shipped over from Anumen? Can you imagine how much that would cost? We would lost our shirts!"

With the obvious disagreements between all parties involved, its clear the council of Barons will need to do something to address this. And soon.

Minotaur Raiders Spotted in the Gulf of Greenforth

Long time residents of the Grasslands of Primordia, Minotaurs have always been a unique and, some say, savage race. With the Elves beginning tutelage of the Minotaurs in the ways of magic, several anti-magic factions have formed within Minotaur culture.

Some of these horned dissidents have formed raiding parties and have begun pestering coastal cities and settlements all along the Primordic Sea. Local merchants and fishermen have been calling for the shipyards to step up production to create a proper navy to keep the shorelines safe.

The Council of Barons have declined to comment on the situation, citing the delicate diplomatic nature of the incidents.
