Did you quit Steem Monsters? Now you can play again for free!
Steem Monsters released an update today aimed at preventing people from begging for multiple starter packs in the social media channels and selling off the cards essentially farming new player acquisition for small gains. That was an annoying problem and I'm glad they fixed it, but it came with an interesting side effect that should be of interest to anyone who gave up the game and sold off their cards over the winter: every account that has ever had a starter pack now has a set of the new cards in it.
It's basically the same as a Beta starter pack, except that these cards can't be gifted, sold, or burned. They're only there to play with. But they do give daily quest credit, and they do earn DEC when they win battles. Hopefully some of the people who left the game over the winter will come back and try it in the new world of DEC and see what's happened in the last months. Maybe a few will even decide to start again.
If you're one of those people, all you have to do is log into the site and play with your new cards, so why not give it a shot? If nothing else earn a couple of DEC and a reward card or two in a daily quest.

As far as I can tell, it's any account that has ever had a starter pack, whether they paid for it or got it for free from the team. My accounts without starter packs didn't get cards.
I expect now that promo codes don't have cash value they'll be given out pretty freely though.

Today I was surprised to play, I see the summoners of water and death, and I thought (it will be that someone sent me a gift) but ams back I read the news and it was a bit sad hahaha. but what they have done for the market is good
i see this card :D hehe now i can start playing with my small account.
BTW, how about levelling up this card? - or we have to buy BCXs and this card can't be used for level up?
Honestly, i dont like this update, coz its a little confusing when i want to sell shxt cards, and i have to choose one by one :face_palm:
I bet they wish they'd thought of that in the beginning. Or maybe they did and decided against it, but to me it makes a lot more sense.
The Discord got annoying for a while with people going in there asking for codes. Part of me always wants to help, but a bigger part of me was always skeptical of intentions. Plus, if we're being honest, someone who can't afford $10 probably won't enjoy this game for very long. ;)
