Its time for my favourite blog of the week. I really do look forward to writing these blogs for the weekly @splinterlands - "SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE"

The amazing team over at @splinterlands ask us to share a battle we've recently had using a specific theme or ability. This week they've asked us for battles with the theme - "Reverse Speed" :

I love this battle theme in the game. The usual rule of "who ever strikes first, wins" goes straight out the window....

I've been undone many a time by that pesky "Air Elemental" and its high range attack and super speed.

So now I don't have to worry about him or that speedy "Feral Spirit" striking first, I just need to pick a team that best suits this theme.

The only time I've had this battle theme come up in the last few days was yesterday.

REVERSE SPEED & TARGET PRACTICE

I was has halfway through my DQ for that day. I was using my weekest team, DEATH, and since some of the monster are "slow" I stuck with that and hoped for the best.

So not only was there Reverse Speed to think about but also Target Practice to consider. So when my oppenents cards were revealed, I first noticed the heavy GF presence and the fact that his monsters were generally at a higher level.

I did notice, straight from the off, that they had chosen to ignore the rule TP and had just concentrated on RS. I also saw that his clay Golem was only lvl 4 and so didn't have the "rage" ability. I knew from the get-go that regardless of what happened with the rest of the deck, his CG couldn't touch my Hautnes spirit.... You see with my summer buff of -1 melee and the HS ability to self-heal, all the damage done by the CG would be cancelled out, so it was just down to the rest of the deck to fight it out.

My "ace in the hand" was my lvl 2 Lord A!! When ever I see the theme TP I always try and get him involved in the second spot to absorb the attacks with his shield, void and reflect he can take out hole teams on his own sometime.

Knowing my opponents CG was useless against my HS, I turned my attention to the rest of the deck. My Lord A would take care of the devine healer with reflect, so it was just his ranged attacks I needed to worry about.

As I mentioned earlier, my oppenent, by the looks of things, hadn't taken TP into account when selecting their team. I knew my LA would hold his own, so it was left to my Jwistet Jester to just mop up the rest of the deck.

Thank you @pentagon-jedi for a great battle. Hope to come across you soon, so you can try and get your revenge.

As you can see from the starting lineup, I placed my GF Furious Chicken in second spot, and was just using it as a sacrificial offering to absorb any first strike. I saw my oppenent had done the same. Obviously I still don't fully understand all the rules because my FC got completely bypassed through out the battle.

So, if I were to change anything in this fight, I'd keep the same lineup but place my GF Chicken in the tank position to take the CG's first strike. Luckily (for me), this didn't and would not have cost me the battle.

I'm just off to get my daily fix of #steemmonsters, so if you see me, be gentle with me.
