Splinterlands: MANTICORE is Deadly

This is my submission in Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge.

This week's theme is MANTICORE

LORE

Another product of the twisted genetic experiments of the Gloridax is on the loose. The hybrid monster known as the Manticore is a cross between a Dragon, a Lion, a scorpion, and countless other monstrosities from which it draws its powers. Except when summoned to battle, the Manticore answers to no one.
MANTICORE is one of my favorite dragon splinter monster and I use it frequently. It has reasonably good attack, speed and health, with amazing abilities like Flying, Reach and Thorns(at level 4). The best part is that it costs just 4 mana. All these features make MANTICORE best suited for one down position. Apart from normal battles it is also best suited for Earthquake battle rule.

My Entry

This was a 34 mana battle with two battle rules: one, Fog of War and Earthquake. The battle rules dictates the use of Dragon Splinter(most of the dragon monsters have flying ability).

Team Selection and Placement

Due to Earthquake battle rule and high allowable mana, I choose to play with DARIA DRGONSCALE to summon my Earth Splinter monsters.

I placed NECTAR QUEEN upfront for its Flying ability. Strong melee attack with high health and speed makes it a force to recon with. I gave it +2 melee attack from summoner and Brownie(Inspire). Also +1 speed came from Brownie(Swiftness).

On second position, I placed my Manticore. Perfect for one down position and Earthquake battle rule.

On third position, I placed my DRAGON JUMPER. It is always good to have at least one opportunity monster in the team.

Next came the FIRE SPITTER. Decent ranged attack with Flying ability, at a low mana cost of just 4.

On second last position, I placed BROWNIE for it's Inspire and Swiftness ability. I knew that it would die in the very 1st round due to Earthquake, but still it is was worth including in the team.

On the very last, I used FURIOUS VULTURE. Fog of War battle rule allowed me to place my Vulture at very last and benefit from all the scavenging she can do.

Remarks

The battle went as planned. NECTAR QUEEN with enhanced attack and speed proved potent enough to kill enemy tank and provide cover for the rest of my team. MANTICORE and Opportunity monsters took care of the rest easily.
