The Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is a sports venue owned by the Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, ​​located in the Paseo de la Castellana, in the Chamartín district of Madrid, Spain. It was inaugurated on December 14, 1947 and its capacity is currently 81 044 spectators.The stadium is listed by UEFA with the highest distinction of elite stadium.

On June 22, 1944, the Mercantile and Industrial Bank granted a loan to President Santiago Bernabéu through Rafael Salgado, president of the banking entity, to acquire the land adjacent to the old Chamartín Stadium (work of the architect José María Castell). The old Chamartín Stadium had been in a very bad state after the Civil War although Real Madrid continued to play there until 1946. On September 5, 1944, the model of the architects Manuel Muñoz Monasterio was presented at the Palace of the Circle of Fine Arts and Luis Alemany Soler as the structure that would shape the stadium. The stadium was inaugurated on December 14, 1947, with a friendly match between Real Madrid and C.F. Os Belenenses of Portugal, under the name of "Real Madrid Club de Fútbol Stadium" - although it remained known among fans as "New Chamartín Stadium" or simply "Chamartín" - The venue had a capacity of 75 145 spectators, of which 27,645 had seats (7125 covered) and 47,500 standing (2000 covered).
