Unsolicited Answers to Problems Plaguing the Daily Quests and Other Competition on an Ongoing Basis

I have commented on this before in chat rooms, posted about it a few times and have wracked my brain as much as I can to bring solutions to the same problems that are complained about by so many (some of them by yours truly).

Hearing people complain about one guild having X amount of accounts, and being active at X time of day, having guild members tank matches for each other, card swapping, bot abuse, quests taking hours to complete (or time the quest completion was given up), this guild-that guild, this whale-that whale, and so on.

Let me first start the conversation by saying in my humble opinion if someone bought a card, then are entitled to play that card, however they may have acquired or bought that card, legitimately. That is where this discussion needs to start. So for total hypothetical reasoning, I, go out and buy all the cards on the market and start leveling up decks and want to play them, then of course by all means play your cards. If you did the same thing and bought 10,000 booster packs, then by all means do that, and everyone legitimately has virtually no grounds to gripe about the results of this. You can program a bot for all I care, and win every time. If you have the cards mixed in with the current game layout then by all means work the system to how it is currently laid out. But the card switching among accounts has to stop, and with a 17 day season there is room for abuse.

So we as a game introduce a rule, unless a card is being leveled up having bought it on the market, or purchased in a booster pack, no cards with any cooldown are allowed into an existing season. Cards that have cooldowns reamin in cooldown for season play until the next season begins. Sounds harsh but hear me out. We have problems in tournaments with people switching cards, goes on a lot, because the system allows for it. But if the tournaments are going to play outside the standard rules that is fine, but don't expect tournament participation to pick up when people know these shenanigans are going on. Therefore don't expect prizes to raise that much either. Kind of a double wammy we are in and until the problem is addressed there is no reason for anything to change. If you like it this way, then great, you have nothing to worry about in this instance.

Another problem is botting, how do we address that? Number one, I personally do not care about this because again, the system incentivizes the behavior by having cumulative awards of a lengthy period of time, versus a bigger reward for less play introducing some new dynamics other than what we have. Again, if this is no problem to you then of course ignore my answer to this issue, or if you want to hear the "devil's advocate" answer to this here you go.

Update, revamp, reorder, however you want to say it adjust the league settings/quest settings to a more "player friendly" model. What does that mean? Have a season match be a best of five series, where each player is allowed to use one different splinter each match, including dragon. After you use a splinter in one game within the match against the other player that splinter would not be available for the rest of the match. In this instance you will get much closer match-ups and create instant strategy, and if nothing else make it more difficult for the bots to program all the variables that will lead to the final match of the fifth and deciding game, in the least. Each player would get X amount of chances, let's use the example of playing up to four matches daily to win one out of four (series of) matches and complete their quest, within their level of course (more on 'level adjustment' later). You complete your quest and your rating can still go up until you lose X number of matches, again to go with four would be a reasonable number for hypothetical reasons. After that you are welcome to continue playing to populate the game field but you will not get rewarded for your season rating and your capture rate would fall by 20% each additional match played beyond this limit. Holy crap what a lot of programming, I know, I sure as hell wouldn't know where to start there. But if there is answer for it I know up to this point we have a hidden powerup card in our back pocket when it comes to developer programming and high ideals for the best interest in the game with our game's central planning that is for damn sure.

Next, the level problem. You may not even know it exists, but it does. Ever notice the crazy volume in the final days of a league, or some days just totally abnormal maxed out decks popping up out of nowhere? You do if you play a season on the last few days.

To combat this I think there is a simple solution. At the beginning of every season, each account "declares" which level they wish to play. If you want to compete in the Diamond League (no divisions, just a big giant league-until there are enough players to always have access to a game around the clock-again, why I am not completely opposed to botting, just the rewarding of the behavior by not adjusting the system). So back to the point, you declare let's say Diamond League. But cryptkeeper17 what happens if I have level 3 summoners and I declare Diamond League? My answer would be "Good luck and have fun winning virtually nothing in daily and season rewards."

That's right, get rid of season rewards. They are antiquated. We don't need to have the same person prove 15 times in a row now that they are "worthy" of playing at any level. If you are self aware of the highest level you can legitimately compete, congratulations you will be rewarded your maximum payout possible each season you are correct. If not, vice versa.

So what happens to the season rewards we are not getting anymore? We still get them, with a buffed up daily quest reward payout and buffed up payouts for each league's highest finishers. Those that play daily get their share, based on how the percentages are divided among all the levels (maybe you can even consolidate levels if needed Diamond/Champion). This way human players that have not cut their decks thin to max out rewards are no longer abusing the reward pool, creating an instant boost to actual player's reward take. You are also having the intention of consolidating DEC rewards among the users that do play every day, or often, making their efforts a little (I think surprisingly) more if this were instituted, versus those that sit dormant and turn the last two days of quests into a "crumb chasing derby," and battling overpowered (virtually maxed out) cards at the silver and gold levels, making the "chase for the cup," seem more like "Hope you had what you wanted yesterday, 'cause it ain't happenin' today."

Last and least likely to ever happen- I would love to see a rule set adjustment at Champion Level, maybe even a full blown game mode adjustment. A few of you know my extreme bias toward gold cards and how they are undervalued due to "under-incentivized" holding/owning/leasing of them. So the off the cuff answer-- duality of gold only and regular game play among the rule sets. Again, only in Champion Level, all others would of course remain the same. This would be the proper influencing players would need to collect, hold and use gold cards, rather than sell them back to the "suckers in the public" despite their up to 50X rarity to the regular card, creating some serious distance between people if this rule set were implemented. So rather than tanking gold prices (which last I checked are the big cards we hoped to pull in booster packs-right?) we would have scarcity and FOMO unlike we have ever seen here, and that's saying a lot.

Also don't forget that I am giving a bonus on all cards that are rented from this account on the peakmonsters' listing format--- Check my previous post for details on how to get a NeoxianAg delegation just for completing your lease term.

Tell me what you think of all of these controversial takes on these controversial issues, and best of luck in the Steem Based Economy.

I like the idea that cards in halt supposed to be unplayed on the tourney too😂 though I don't really play tourney. I think it's quite nice with the exists rule.. cards cooling down for 7 days (half of a season) for ranked play.

I have no complain about guild or any farming DEC activities, it's okay because everyone enjoy the game. Beside.. there are many rented decks than the card owners, so let other people enjoy the game and earn something from playing ..no matter gold or regular cards, as long as the circulation not amongs the whale only.. it would be fine. I don't think eliminate the season rewards will be a good option😉 people seems so impatience about the game recently.

I think we need to move away from bots and multi-accounting if we want to reach mass adaption. Most none blockchain gamers (who I thought were the target audience) hear the words bot and multi-accounting and associate that with cheating. It will be hard to change that mindset.

I don't like the idea of beefing up the daily. I think that will lead to more abuse. Instead I would like to see a different league standing and rewards for each League level. Novice and Bronze can be its own league and so can Diamond and Champion.

League 1: Novice/Bronze
League 2: Silver
League 3: Gold
League 4: Diamond/Champion

Each player has to pick what league they want to join prior to the start of the league so no one player can win all the rewards in each. We would still have the problem of multi-accounting but at least it keeps everyone's main account in one specific league.

One of the benefits of the above system is more winners and winners tell their friend about this awesome game we are playing. They also spend more on the game because they're " good at it ".

Being the best Novice/Bronze/Silver/Gold player would be a nice bragging right and will give incentive to lower level to Buy/Level up cards so they can be the best in the league they choose to play in.

That's a great point and I agree. All valid options, and made additionally possible by having a more user friendly system that gets away from accumulating/piling on versus being effective, efficient, and more skilled on an individual basis. Playing north of 50-100 matches daily is not going to allow any "human" players into the very top heap of the game. Even if you have all the cards maxed you have to play hours daily (several hours daily if you happen to win say 'only' 2/3 of your matches against who you are ever playing at a given time). It's time for a reinvigorated system, again I know it won't be easy to do but something like this and what I mentioned above would be a step in the right direction, nice thoughts @rentmoney.
