Splinterlands Untamed | Rare Lvl 4 GIANT SQUID, and Lvl 3 SERPENT OF ELD Evaluation
In this post, we will be checking out two rare cards from the Water Splinter, the GIANT SQUID, and the SERPENT OF ELD. I thought both of these cards have interesting abilities.
CARDS 1960-1988/2500
First off, we have the GIANT SQUID, a ranged monster with some fairly mediocre base stats.
What sets this monster apart is a new ability it receives at level 4, the Blind ability. This ability increases the chance that all ranged and melee attackers miss their attacks. While perhaps this card won't put out huge damage numbers, it has the potential to reduce enemy damage significantly. When maxed out, it also obtains the Weaken ability, which reduces the health of all enemy monsters by one.
At this point, I am interested in getting this card to level 4 to try out its new ability. It turns out my 27 cards gets me there. I will play around with this card and decide if I want to upgrade it more later.
Verdict: Keep and combine the regular cards, sell the gold foils.
CARDS 1989-2013/2500
The SERPENT OF ELD is in the same category as the GIANT SQUID. It's not the best tank in regard to base stats and mana cost, but it has another interesting ability.
At level 4 this card is capped out for both damage and speed, so the base stats are not spectacular. At level 5 the SERPENT OF ELD gets the Return Fire ability. The RED DRAGON from the Promo cards also has this ability, but I've never had a card with it myself. When maxed out it gains the Poison ability as well.
When my 23 cards are combined, I get to level 3 on the verge of level 4. I'd like to eventually get it to level 5 to play around with Return Fire, but I'm really in no hurry.
Verdict: Keep and combine the regular cards, but sell the gold foils. Eventually upgrade to level 5.
