Reaching Gold Rank Feels Awesome- Steemmonsters

It has been months and thousands of matches but I made it to Gold Rank III! I would say my road to Gold today was by some luck. Oddly at one time I had three matches where my opponents were unable to finish setting up their formations in time and therefore forfeited the match. So three straight wins for doing nothing but sitting around! Chart to follow shows how I was able to jump almost +250 points in 12 matches.

Of course my gold rank did not last long, but having been able to reach it is motivation enough to keep on playing. To those who are still trying to reach or wanting to learn how to rise in rank have no fear, simply play more and you will do better in time. To shorten one's learning curve to advance in this game I want to discuss a trio combo that is affordable and very efficient to surpass bronze and most of silver ranks.
When I first met this trio combo I felt very annoyed because I was losing a lot to them. The cards I am talking about is the combo of Daria, Sea Monster, and Manticore. See my old post here So I decided if I can not beat them I will join them. Here are some numbers on how to get yourself this formation at peak potential for accelerating in the silver ranks.
All three cards are available to all players as they are rewards for completing daily quests. I looked into maxing the summoner and monsters ownership cost to excel in Silver rank. To reiterate rank matches have limitation on how high of a level your summoners and monsters can be when battling. For silver rank here are the limitations. (Daria an Epic Summoner needs to be level 3 to use monster at level 5. This is important to know as a Rare Summoner requires to be at least level 4 to use monster at level 5.)

So what would be the cost of these three cards at maximum efficiency for silver rank? Based on current December 2019 prices to follow is a chart summary.

Cost for Daria, Sea Monster, and Manticore Combo

NameLevelBCX (*)Total Cost ($)
Daria Dragonscale ★ 3 6$4.80
Sea Monster ★ 5 25$0.58
Manticore ★ 3 6$2.67
(*) BCX is amount of cards to raise summoner/monster to their respective levels.

A $8.05 total to get a formation that is a very formidable foe if you are in silver rank or trying to get there. This is cheaper than a starter deck! I will believe once more players realize this the prices will move up for at the very least Daria and Manticore. The sticker price for Daria can be lowered if one earns the card in daily rewards or rents it through peakmonster.

If you were wondering if getting by with a level 2 Daria is acceptable I can tell from experience it is not! Sea Monster when facing head to head between level 4 or 5 has a major difference. The speed is a (3) at a level 5 versus a (2) at level 4. The level 4 Sea Monster will most likely lose in battle. So although the $ price maybe small the results can be winning the battle.
The way I see to stop this combo without spending a ton is incorporating a Mech Goblin, also a rewards card. Below is screen shot with stats at level 5 and cost is $0.82. The toughness on Mech Goblin slows down the combo. An added range or magic monster working with Mech will have a decent chance of beating out the trio.

I am very curious how other players are handling this trio combo without killing their wallet?
