Splinterlands - BEATRIX IRONHAND DANGEROUS? (Weekly Post)

Beatrix Ironhand is one of the Untamed air drops in the back half of the Untamed booster pack sales if I remember. On first impression I did not think much of it, but in closer inspection the standard ability "close range" makes it well worth a second look. Basically Beatrix can attack at first position or any other position with its range attack by default.

At 6 mana it is high but with a decent range attack at level 1 it is worth using. Have this monster mixed in with other long range monsters may make it a deadly foe.

Battle Using Beatrix Ironhand

The match to follow has a rule set of range monsters being able to attack at first position. This defeats the purpose of having close range ability. In the end I still decided to go with earth splinter and with a high mana battle it would benefit to use high mana monsters.

Formations

I started off with Minotaur Warlord, Minotaur Warrior, Sand Worm, Spirit of The Forest, Beatrix Ironhand and end with Mushroom Seer. The focus was to go with melee and range attackers while have some magic neutralizing monsters in Warlord and Mushroom Seer.

My opponent went with water splinter and started Kelp Initiate, Capitans Ghost, Mermaid, Ice Pixie, Medusa and Elven Mystic. The whole lineup focus on magic attack monsters. Not surprising with the use of Arlic summoner.

Round 1

With the near end of round one I had all my monsters while my opponent lost their Kelp Initiate and Mystic. I have the lead in this battle.

Round 2

In round two the end came swiftly. The bulk of my opponent's formation basically crumbled against mostly melee and range attacks. I think the key was my Warlord was able to suppress my opponent's magic monsters. My combination of Minotaur Warrior and Sand Worm deal decisive blows to my opponent. In addition worthy to note is that all my monsters in the formation had higher than 1 in attack which just enhanced the damage on my opponent when the attacks are combined.

Conclusions

The key to this match was my Warlord being able to handle my opponent's magic attacks while allow my formation attack back and due significant manage on my opponent. The Beatrix Ironhand went well hand and hand with Spirit of the Forest. It should be worth noting the latter is worth more than 10x than Beatrix at current levels which is sort of insane, but alpha cards are rare and have their value.

In the end Beatrix Ironhand is a great monster to use in combination with other strong monsters which is similar to a formation I just used. It is pretty nice to annihilate a water splinter magic formation as it is one of the more common forms in the silver and gold leagues.
