Splinterlands Collection Update

Despite Untamed Edition Cards only still being distributed, the Splinterlands universe continues to grow and evolve. The development team has definitely taken the resources from the Untamed expansion to layout the roadmap further into the future with interesting developments. I have to admit that given how busy I have been this year and under the circumstances, I have definitely fallen behind trying to optimize my Collection.

The opportunity for my Collection has also expanded as we have has many new cards enter into circulation over the past couple of months. Given the increased player base and their engagement, Reward Edition Cards have expanded quite broadly. While the developers also put in place more parameters to earn them, they have continued to run out of older versions so the Collection has expanded. I have still quite a bit of them to get to a decent level to compete which has also become more difficult. I have not been able to get into the Top 100 in quite a while!

I have made my best efforts to continue completing my Collection although it becomes more difficult to accomplish as the demand for a number of cards has made it expensive. For example, once the Legendary Promo Card Prince Julian finalized its printing, they added the Mighty Dricken. Given the amount of players now, it was going to be tough to get it to drop from the Potions. I monitored the market for months until I decided to pull the trigger and just purchase it.

The next Cards that have been difficult to get have been the new Untamed Legendary Summoners. Given how strong they are and the seemingly normal increased amount of high mana games, they are quite desirable. Given my large Kickstarter pledge, I have been lucky to get a good amount of Air Drops. However, every new Air Drop decreases my chances and I have seen it. Once the Water Summoner came out, I was short by a couple of cards so I waited a couple of weeks to find them. I was able to get a good trade in that worked out pretty well.

The same happened for the Life Summoner as I came short of getting enough for a maximum level Card to compete. I have seen how the market cooldowns afterwards so I am still waiting to complete those for my collection. Luckily, for the most recent Legendary Summoner, I was guaranteed a maxed out card as I was the pledger that helped design the card (with my creative daughter of course). That has helped me shorten my shopping list for now.

However, Orbs have also stopped being sold and that led to the team to release the Dice Edition cards. I have yet to purchase a pack as I have been holding on to my Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) for the lands that have been released. As I figure out how successful I was with the land distribution, I will probably buy some Dice but I may opt to just buy the cards from the market. Still not sure as I prefer the certainty but will miss out in the excitement of opening packs!

Truly so much going on at the moment with little time to act for me. I see how prices have moved so much for not only cards but also DEC which has been impressive. I think it demonstrates the excitement revolving around the potential of what I believe is the most successful Blockchain game out there. While not perfect, the community continues to be very involved and a important part of its direction.
