Splinterlands: A 99 Mana Cap Battle

Hello!

Now, high mana games excite me. It is as if I had got my freedom from some imaginary shackles, and I could stretch myself out. The best part is the knowledge that no matter how much I stretch out, I will never be able to equal the 99 mana limit. Oh wow, such a cool thing!

Since the beginning of my Steem monsters journey, I had rarely lost a high mana game. Most of the time my loss was due to the opponent having levelled up cards which would quickly gobble up mine. And maybe a couple of times, due to the splinter selection; obviously, I was the one who got it wrong. Barring that, I was the king of the high mana games.

So, when the higher mana limit rules came up, I was excited as crazy! Real crazy! The reason was that I was more or less getting low mana games with a sprinkling of a few medium limit ones. It was as if I was driving a Ferrari in second gear around a race track. Know the feeling? I bet you do.

But 99 mana cap and the Ferrari got slotted in ninth gear and flew through the track.

So, let’s see what my Ferrari (a.k.a lineup) looked like.

Game Plan

Now, I had to jump into making a real massive line-up. After all, 99 mana cap is not something you get too often. So, here is what I thought.

  • Select Life Splinter – Why? Well, Life and Earth splinters are one of the strongest in my arsenal due to the cards that I own at the moment. So, either one was the choice, and between them, I chose Water.
  • First position attacker: What better than the Goblin Mech, of course. With that armour almost equaling its health, it is one of the sought after monster in big mana battles.
  • Second Position: Prismatic Energy to ensure that it could reflect magic attacks on itself.
  • Third Position: Phantom of the Abyss, the Legendary monster, is one cool addition with an attack level of three. Besides, it deflects many attacks leading to misses. Now, that is indeed a cool addition.
  • Fourth Position: Crustacean King, who was there to replenish the Mech’s health, if need be.
  • Fifth Position: Azmare Harpoonist, which is a super-strong attacker with an attack value of three, again.
  • Sixth Position: Sea Monster which I knew would be doing nothing sitting there, but still I put it in that position. Why? Because most opponent attacks are directed at the last monster and what better than the Sea-Monster taking all the aggression and recharging itself. Not bad, huh?

That brought forth my line-up.

Now, I was eager to see what the opponent had planned.

We Face-Off

I got to tell you that this was the most anti-climax moment of the entire game. Here I was waiting for a fierce battle and guess what I saw?

Well, this is what I saw:

What on Earth was this all about? I had prepared so much for the battle, and this is what I face. Anyway, I progressed into the battle.

Like I had a choice. 😉

The Battle

I figured that I jumped into conclusion too soon. There could be any number of reasons for the opponent’s weak lineup.

The chances were that the player missed getting his monsters in place on time and in a hurry ended up with the lineup that he/she chose. OR, he/she just misread the rules of the game, leading him to select what he/she selected. OR, he/she was simply chilling out with an odd combination for the recommended mana cap.

But my monsters had no sympathy. The carnage almost immediately started.

See that? My Mech had hardly moved, and his Turtle was turtled! Hehehe… 😊
But have to admit that the three magic attackers pierced through the armour and took my Goblin Mech.

Well, incidentally, that would be my only loss. Here’s how it looked.

By that time, the opponent’s monsters were on their last breath. It was over in just three more attacks.

The Result

Not too many geniuses are required to figure out that I won the battle. Oh, you guessed that already?

Mannn, you are a genius!! 😊

The only consolation (even for me) was that I won against someone who had a better rating than me.

So, all was not lost!

So, that’s It!

I still love the big mana cap games as you have many combinations possible to maximize your attack. This was just one of it, and maybe I would post more of the battles where it was a really tough one.

Until then, namaste! 😊

Take care!
