Bring forth the Naga!

Almost at the deadline! It was getting hard to fit the Naga in a battle for this week's Share your Battle challenge! I love this card, since it was one of the first Splinterlands cards I've maxed!

How cool is the art?

Besides the beautiful art, the Naga Fire Wizard is also a tough coookie in the battlefield. Literally tough, since it has the Shield ability from level 1! And a whole lot of other goodies:

  • good magical attack, 4 at max level
  • thorns from level 5

The combination of thorns and shield makes it a terrific card to have at the back: it can withstand a lot of sneak attacks, and can even kill some of the sneakers! All that while providing a decent damage.

Her only cons: not that great speed, and high mana. Still, useful in a ton of rulesets: I tend to use it more in rise of the commons, when only common and rare cards are allowed, and in taking sides, where no neutrals are allowed.

And since my last daily quest was with the Fires Splinter, had a good excuse to try and fit the Naga in a battle!

Rulesets:

  • close range: ranged attacks can attack from first position
  • melee mayhem: meleee monsters can attack from everywhere

So basically, everyone attacks from anywhere! :)

My strategy:

  • Lord Arianthus in the front: with this ruleset, heavy damage is expected to the front row, so a sturdy tank had to be used
  • Cerebrus as off tank, the healing ability could be usefull to absorb some blast damage
  • Pit Ogre: As the enrage ability kicks in, he's an insane damage dealer!
  • Exploding dwarf: I know most people will use a tank with thorn, but... YOLO! I love the dwarf's damage dealing, and in this battle it was valuable while it lasted!
  • Naga in the second back position
  • Serpentine soldier: chose him instead of the naga because the faster speed and dodge could come in handy in escaping some sneak attacks.

I sensed I was in trouble as soon as I saw my opponent's summoner: legendary Prince Rennyn! I was unsure if this would be a win.

The Spirit of the Forest is a sniper, and my first ranged attacker? The Naga! Shield ability was paramount to keep the naga alive. Opponent's first tank was the cube, a lot of HP but no damage sparing skills, so it fell right in the first round thanks to my team's heavy damage.

Naga kept absorbing the Spirit's attacks, and as soon as the off tank Lord Arianthus fell, 4 magic attack helps a ton: the Orc was dead because of it.

The snipe attacks brought the naga down to 1 HP, but I was able to bring the Spirit to the first position, and from there, the battle was won! Heavy damage dealing was the winning factor; you can check the entirey battle here!

Any useful Naga tips you want to share? Comment away!

See you on the battlefield!
