I think I just saw a Ghost... and it packs a mean punch!

Battling time! This week’s suggested monster is the Captain’s ghost, and it’s actually one of my favourite reward cards!

There are so many things to like in Captain’s ghost:

  • Affliction starting at level 1! And magic attack always lands, which increases the possibility of getting the effect to work.
  • Pretty decent health, starting at seven
  • Good magical attack, especially if we add the bonus from Alric
  • Oppression at level 5! Since no atack cards are used more and more, this new ability rocks!
And not related to gameplay… love the art on this one!!

The slow speed and high mana cost are the only downside, but since a lot of games have high mana caps that’s not much of a problem, and the slow speed can actually be an advantage in the reverse speed ruleset.

Where do I use him most? Whenever I can fit it! The affliction ability alone is more than enough reason to use him; having the tank of the opposite team unable to heal is more often than not the game changer. Reverse speed ruleset and rise of the commons with enough mana cap is probably where I use him most; I still have him pretty low, on level two, but plan on upgrading him soon.

So, the chosen battle for this challenge… Water vs Fire! Probably my two favourite splinters!

Rulesets:

  • +2 armor to all monsters
  • Only common and rare cards can be used

The armor ruleset is one of the reasons for having chosen the Water splinter, since the magic attacks will dodge the armor. And no legendaries or epics means the change of the opposite team having strong tanks with magical reflect are lower.

Here is the lineup:

Sea Monster is a great tank in the commons ruleset: heal, thorns, high damage and health. Main problem? Speed. Prismatic Energy in second place acts as a great offtank, fast and with magical reflect.

Given the good health, mr. ghost went in third, with medusa in its back with the stun; and then the healer that also provides extra shield, and water elementar in the back. Like to use him in the last postition because of the high speed and heal, so he can last a little longer if sneak attacks come.

When I saw Plado I imagined more trouble, because one of the problems with my line-up was speed, and Fire Splinter is already fast, let alone with the speed bonus from the legendary summoner!

Luckily for me, the Cerberus doesn't have that much health, and went down right in the first round. The opponent had two more cards with high health, but I had a lot of fire power... and got lucky with the misses, the water elemental kept surviving the sneak attacks!

As soon as this bully went down, the battle ended quickly. And although it wasn't necessary on this particular battle, given the lack of healers in the opponent... this is what I want to see in Captain's Ghost attack:

Affliction time!! 😁

If you want to see the whole battle, you can find it here!

A ton of new cards coming really soon: Dice will be here next week, and I can't wait to see what it brings. One thing I DO know: it will bring more confusion for me! More cards mean more decisions about which ones to level up! Eheheheh.

See you on the battlefield!
