Man on a boat

Nope, this is not some rambling about boat trips. It's Splinterlands's Share Your Battle challenge! And with a card I rarely use!

I must confess, I upgraded the card on purpose to join the challenge! Since I rarely use it, I had it at base level.

Until level 4, it's just another sniper; and not that fast, nor that powerfull. But from level 5 onwards, things get more interesting: he gains the repair ability! And since I use Tyrus as my life summoner, that ability really comes in handy! If it weren't for it, there are far better sniper options, such as the centaur: faster and with less mana. But repair can be a life saver... such as in this battle.

Rulesets:

• Only common and rare monsters
• The trample ability can trigger multiple times

To try the boatman, chose the life splinter. Besides, in the rise of the commons ruleset, Silvershield Paladin is one of the best tanks for me.

Strategy:

• Silvershield Paladin as the tank
• Silvershield bard, for the speed and cleanse ability
• The healer
• Lone boatman behind the healer
• Silvershied assassin as my main damage source
• chicken, as burner for possible sneak attacks

Opponent went with water splinter: a strong tank, and two maxed sneakers! My bid advantage in this battle: most of the other team had low hp monsters, and no shield. So in the first rounds, the assassin took care of them! Chicken was well positioned to buy some time for the assassin to work.

By the third round, only the maxed shark and the tank remained from last team. Here was the boatman repairing the tank's shield, and that was vital for him to maintain his hp.

At the beginning of 4th round I lost my assassin. And with a very strong opponent sneaker, my other monsters could fall soon. But again, the boatman prove really useful!

Here he is, repairing his armour after a blow from the shark. That way, enough time was won to finish off the opposite tank... and secure the win!

Now I have a level 5 boatman to add to my arsenal. And if it weren't for this weekly challenge, it would probably remain unused!
