Just when you've decided that Steemmonsters potions aren't really worth it, this happens... 3 gold foil cards in 1 single Orb.
I got lucky! I found 3 gold foil cards in my latest Orb. This re-opens the discussion about the value of special potions again...

I love opening Orbs. Since the cards are brand new and I need to max them, every single card comes in useful. I'm still exchanging all the DEC I can earn or buy on Orbs.
Just like anyone else, I'm always hoping for that special jackpot card, like a gold foil version of Corrupted Pegasus, Minotaur Warlord or Lord of Fire. But what would be the odds? I've been quite lucky already pulling the next best thing twice; I am the proud owner of 2 gold foil Mermaid Healer cards.

Steemmonsters Potions
In the @teampossible Discord channel, me and some friends had been discussing whether the Legendary and the Alchemy potions were actually worth the 45k DEC they cost.
I had bought both to maximize the drop rate of legendaries and gold foils while opening the 100 beta packs-anniversary deal I had purchased. I was pretty convinced the difference in drop rate wasn't worth the DEC and that I wouldn't buy them again.
I had almost used up all of my charges when I opened an Orb with 3 gold foil cards in it.
Needless to say that I'm in doubt again... lol.
How do you feel about the potions? Do you think they're worth all that DEC or not?

Have the same doubt... gathered enough dec for the 50% ones, and will use them once I gather more decs to get more orbs. Curious to see if I'll be lil lucky, although keeping my Hope's down. Congrats on those mermaids!

I'm trying not to think about whether or not the potions are worth it... as I never have enough DEC to afford one anyway! I have been opening ORBS though.... maybe I should save up for potions instead of doing ORBS, and then getting a potion or two for the season rewards?

I myself only find the Mystery potions worth buying.
I don't use others anymore (I once did buy a 25% legendary and 50% Gold potions)
But that didn't get me much results.
I only bought a 50% mystery potion and got one beta pack from it.
I got with one 25% mystery potion
2 Orbs
and 1 Rewards card (That was common)
seems like good value to me!
I didn't know that's what potions were for. By the sound of it I don't think I'd be able to afford one any time soon anyway..
yepppp I loves potions but they are just too expensive!!!
I say yes, and the math disagrees with it right now but I think the alchemy/gold potion value makes sense as much as possible. I ran out of DEC, saved up a bit, and got the bottom level alchemy, legend, and the top daily quest +5 for card total awarded on your quest. Sounds ridiculous but hitting the right gold once pays for it, and a lot of these reward cards I am going to be trying to buy anyway, so it makes sense for me. Today I lucked out and got a gold manticore, which is not normal of course, but it was also among the last five cards of the day. So it's almost a chicken before the egg thing but I will chalk that up as a smart move.
