Rural Rexxie Rampage

Late last week, a group of Rexxies, imported from Anumun, broke free of their enclosures and wreaked havoc on the small town of Heronburg. A local entrepreneur, Miles Randolph, intended to breed and miniaturize the creatures in order to sell them to noble families in the area as pets.

At least half a dozen Rexxies managed to break out of their pen and began terrorizing the main street shops during afternoon business. Luckily, there were no reported serious casualties beyond several bumps and bruises as the mostly tame beasts paraded their way through the streets. Authorities are recommending severe fines for Mr. Randolph and a deportation order for the Rexxies themselves.

Mr. Randolph has vowed to fight this injustice in court, stating that he followed every rule in the book to keep everything and everyone safe.

"It isn't fair. Someone did this to me, look," during the interview, Mr. Randolph displayed the lock he used to keep the gate closed, it did appear to have been sawed off, "it was tampered with. Someone cut it and I'll be damned if I'm taking the blame for something that isn't my fault."

While it certainly appears Mr. Randolph is telling the truth, it is ultimately for the magistrates to decide.

Constabulary Confounded

Another rash of graffiti has appeared, this time across the warehouses and dockside business around the port and the associated wharves. Similarly cryptic messages have been found.

"The Dates are Winking."

"The Vines are Petrifying."

"The Grisly Eyes of Diamond are Open."

City officials have begun looking into a more effective form of removing the Azmare ink. As yet, there has been little success save for painting over it. Notable linguist and accomplished wizard, Artemis yarrow, has been asked to attempt to interpret the messages and see if there is any cause for alarm.

This marks the most recent of several graffiti sprees perpetrated in and around the city. The Gazette believes there is more here than meets the eye, follow our stories for any updates.

Strange Man, Strange Questions

A man calling himself as a purveyor of games and skillful challenges has been questioning the citizens of Beluroc over the past few days. No reports of the man operating in an untoward manner have reached the Gazette.

Attempts to locate the man for comment have proven fruitless, however several citizens he has questioned have come forward. One of these people, Kylie Talbot, reports the following.

"Well, the guy was asking if I thought Beluroc would be a good place to run a few tournaments. I didn't see a reason not to answer, he wasn't pushy or anything."

The consensus of those the Gazette interviewed is the man is looking to run some sort of tournament and was interested in finding out about locations and how many participants there might be. The Gazette will watch this with interest.

Drifting Derelict

Early in the morning yesterday, the lighthouse keeper flashed at the docks a warning rarely seen. The 'Drifting Derelict' warning has never been sent before and authorities had to scramble to figure it out before proceeding.

Once in easy sight of the port, several tugs were sent out to lash and tow the ship safely to the docks. There were no complications and the ship is currently docked at wharf 19. Although the situation ended without any damage to property or life, a mystery now remains.

No sign of life was seen aboard the ship and a placard on the aft castle named the ship 'The Everwind.' Dockworkers were accompanied by officers of the Constabulary as they searched the ship.

The mystery only deepened when not only were no remains found but there were also no supplies nor any sign of the ship ever having been in use. Current theories are that a freshly built ship must have slipped its moorings during the last stormy season. Though this seems likely to be a tale told by sailors who passed through the port. A missing ship would not go unnoticed.

Without flags to identify the port of origin however, the ownership of the ship will likely remain unknown. The Council of Barons is currently presenting the case before the magistrates for guidance on further courses of action.

Ah @tanzofett, another delightful edition of The Mortis Gazette fresh off the presses. Well worth the 50 DEC price! If I might offer one small criticism....perhaps the "Accomplished Wizard" should be named. Or is the Gazette now in the habit of quoting "anonymous" sources?
