My daily steemmonsters progress
I had a bad day and went on a terrible losing streak in order to complete today's quest. I had to use my fire splinter to complete the quest. At first I thought I had a reasonable set of fire cards, but now know for certain there are gaps in the set. My rank points is now at 1043 as I type this, literally half from my all time high. Talk about falling back from grace.
Presently my water splinter is only a level 1 summoner, which limits me from using a lot of my monster cards max stats. On top of that my full water collection is by far the lowest in value compare to the other splinters. So although I need to upgrade fire, for now water is still a priority.

Haha.. Yup, "frustation management" is a MAJOR part of this game. Speaking of which, I took your suggestion to buy another 100 (+10 free) "Orbs" pack batch, and open it SLOWLY. I have settled on TWO packs per day (one in the after the daily quest, and then one roughly half a day after (plus after some other milestones during the season). I introduced this new strategy in my new post (published yesterday), and so far I have INDEED been able to control myself and stick to the strategy. It should be interesting to how it plays out...
