Not playing Splinterlands much, but still won some cards

avatar

I keep trying to resist playing Splinterlands (the game previously known as Steem Monsters), but I get tempted to do a daily quest now and again. I made it up to Silver II last season, so I get another 15 cards from that. A few new ones to me there.

Cards

  • Gelatinous Cube apparently gains health as monsters die. I got a level 4 gold, but I am really not sure what that means. I have not grasped if gold cards have advantage in battle, but they are worth more. This one is priced at $1.90.
  • Not seen Battle Orca before. It does not seem particularly special at level 1. I have lots of cards I rarely use.
  • Spirit Shaman looks more interesting. With Divine Shield to cancel out the first hit. I like magic cards generally for taking out cards with armour. This is valued at 89c.

According to @PeakMonsters my collection is worth over $110. I know some people have cards worth many thousands, but I have not spent much on cards and my starter pack from a freebie at Steemfest 3. This shows you can easily make profit by playing. It depends on how much time you want to spend on it. I am not making enough Dark Energy Crystals to buy much. I am not looking to sell cards for now, but will do free leases to new users who need a boost.

Dang, you got a really great pull for your season rewards! Mine usually aren't that good. That is awesome. Three or four epics and a gold foil is nothing to be ashamed of!

It's better than some I've had. I know I need better summoners, but I am still not inclined to spend Steem on them.

The cool thing is you don't need to anymore. Just keep playing and build up some DEC's so that you can purchase them with those. The market accepting DEC's for cards has been a game changer for the way I buy cards now.

I know, but I need a lot more DEC to afford things like summoners. I could trade some of my other tribe tokens.

You can earn them by playing too :)

Cube is great for those battles where no Melee's are allowed.

Level 4 to start with and Neutral means you can use him with any Splinter and that effect means he can repair himself. He's like Peaceful Giant but better!

Do you place him up front to absorb hits? I'll give him a try soon.

Yes, that's what he's good for. Your back lines should be picking off his monsters and then he gets a mini heal if an enemy one dies. Use in conjunction with a healer and you can double up the healing.

Golds start at a higher level so they aren't inherently stronger, but they usually start off as the equivalent of like a 3 or 4 non gold card.

It also takes less gold cards to combine to max out the equivalent non gold card.
