A little bit more than my end of season rewards - better than my BETA pack opening anyway!

Another excellent season of #steemmonster has finished and as usual I find myself in GOLD I. I'm slowly building up my card collection and I'm hoping to break back in to the Diamond leagues this season.

The ability to use DEC to buy cards has really helped me push my deck on. I've risen from lvl 3 summoners to lvl 4 and I'm hoping to get a few to lvl 5 by the end of this season. That should see me compete comfortably at GOLD I and possibly make the push up again.

Since the BETA packs sold out, a week ago, I have noticed the price of summoners creeping up. I'd say we've seen a 15/20% increase in prices. This is completely understandable and expected. It just means it take me an extra 2 days on top of what I used to do, to build up an enough DEC to purchase a summoner. I've also noticed individuals buying up ALL summoners to corner the market (very smart move @sourovafrin, @zaku, et al.....)

So, finishing in GOLD I gave me 30 reward cars to open:

Did you know that by hovering your mouse over the cards actually gives you a hint as to what might be lurking behind?

If it's a rare or higher, you'll get a fair glow from the rim of the card. And as you can see above you can turn over all your best cards first.

PICK OF THE BUNCH:

This very handy GF, Javelin Thrower. This is my 3rd GF Javelin Thrower and once you combine 2 cards you get a very quick and very deadly attacking card -

After combining 2 GF's to make it a lvl 4 card, with 5 speed and 3 ranged attack points, + "pierce", its a very effective way to break through most stubborn front end tanks.

Coming in at $3.10 per BCX, not only is it a very good card to use, its also reasonably expensive. So with 3 already in my possession and only 761 cards in circulation, it's definitely a card to keep hold of.

The rest of the rewards were, as to be expected, multiples of vampires and creeping oozes and other common cards. All have their uses, but they don't get the old heart raving when turning over.

I do like the sea monster, especially when trying to complete a WATER quest and "melee monster only" comes up, it's my go to tank.

The wood nymph is also a very underrated card, for $/BCX ratio. A tank healer that also offers +1 health at lvl 6!! Always great to have that in your deck.

The sea genie is a very potent attacking card at lower levels, I always try and get it in when using the WATER splinter. The "Ruler of the sea" is obviously a better choice (with blast) but take out legendarys and the Genie is a good performer.

A very specialised card is the "exploding dwarf". Used with the right combination of game and cards it can be lethal. Poor health but packing a massive punch, get this card to strike first and it can effect the outcome of most battles.

The Highland archer..... Get this card to lvl 4 and its a very good card for such a low mana cost. Nothing stands out about this card, but 2 ranged attack points with average health and speed, plus only 3 mana makes it very useful at lower mana battles and with "little league" game rules in play (under 4 mana), it usually finds a place in my starting team.

I managed to snag a gold chicken a couple of days after they launched, so that's an easy 10% DEC boost in pretty much every match. Good times :)
