How has this weeks SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE come around so quick?? It only feels like a few days ago, that I was writing my last...... Ohhh!! Hang on, it was.

Every Monday, @carrieallen and the amazing curation team, over at @steemmonsters, ask us to share with them a specific battle theme or certain monster we have used recently in the splinterlands. This week, we have been asked to share a battle we have been a part of, that has contained the Gelatinous Cube.

The Gelatinous Cube is a funny old thing! I say old, but no one really knows how old they are or where they actually came from. They appeared one night and just decided to stick around. They poses no means of attack, but are not to be messed with. With the ability to *suck* life from the "fallen" and even heal themselves when damaged, they're pretty hard to put down.

When it come to certain battle themes, these monsters certainly an asset to anyone's arsenal.

Untill I read the SYBC post yesterday, I think I may have been able to count on one hand the amount of times I had used to Gelatinous Cube, but with the challenge set down by the team, Ive started to use it more often.

Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to pull the WATER Splinter as my Daily Quests. So when I was able to, I included the Gelatinous Cube as often as I could. Below are just 2 battle examples of when I felt I was able to fit it in without any detrimental effect on my stratagies and ability to get a Win.

The first time I tried to use the Gelatinous Cube, I slotted it in at the rear, to offer some protection from any tail attacks, my opponent - @oadissin might use. To compensate for using a monster with no "attack" of its own, I went in very offensive. The firepower of my lineup was far too much for the other team to handle, and with no defence against MAGIC attack, my team made short work of this match up.

The Gelatinous Cube just sat there, using its "scavenge" buff, just picking up extra health, whilst the rest of the team did all the hard work. So although I technically used the Gelatinous Cube, I wasn't really happy with how it performed, so thought I would use it in the next battle too.

For no other reason that thinking my first use of the Gelatinous Cube wasn't good enough, I decided to try again, but this time get it more involved. The next opportunity I got to use it came a few games later, whilst still trying to complete my DQ with the WATER splinter.

I have seen a few people use the GC during battles involving the battle rule "EARTHQUAKE". Simply because, with "self Heal", it would always counter the - 2 health damage taken every round. Plus with Scavenge it would also pick up extra health everytime an enemy monster died due to the effects of EARTHQUAKE. With that in mind, and thinking about getting it more involved, I placed the GC in the second position, knowing that when my Spine backed turtle finally fell, it would step straight in as an extra tank.

My magic attack made very quick work of his tank (thankfully), and his Assasin took out two of my monsters in one round!! This instantly added 3 extra health points to my GC. My magic attack worked its way through most of his team, but not before he did manage to take out my spineback turtle.... Luckily the GC had built up plenty of extra health points by now and was more than capable of standing up to the remaining attacks of @sourovafrin. At one stage I think the GC self-healed by +5 health! That's an incredible recovery.

The Gelatinous Cube has grown on me very quickly, and up until this point I hadn't even levelled it up. But with several cards in my deck, I managed to get it to lvl 6, to maximise its buff abilities. After seeing it's effectiveness in certain situations, I'll definitely be using it far more frequently.

Would I change anything about the line ups?

Not really, in both examples above, they both served the purposes for where I placed them. The second battle just looks better because the GC actually got involved. I still feel that as a rear end defence, I still think it very effective and could definitely be hard to break through.

So can anyone tell me the best position for this monster?? How do you use it in battle?? I can definitely see how it could be used as a cheaper ($) alternative to the might Lord A in certain battle scenario, but I'm still in favour of Lord A.

Please leave me some hints and tips for any battle lineups you use involving this monster, and I'll definitely give you any credits in any future #splinterlands blogs I use it in.

Bwahahah! Dude. For real... the title of your post is how my brain tries to say it... and basically I Porky Pig it to "The Cube". 🤣

Okay okay okay. So I totally thought The Cube would be a good switch for Lord A but I think I've been proven wrong in only a few days! While it CAN totally work in first position (if it has healing or you add a tank heal), it seems better suited as a protected back up.

I'm enjoying finding cards like this (that I might normally overlook) and find them to be fabulous!

Well if it wasn't for this week SYBC, I very much doubt that I'd have used it. It definitely has something about it though and, as I said, given the right battle scenario it's definitely worth entertaining and slotting in to a lineup.

Now if the dev team at @splinterlands want some advice, they could drop it to 4 mana, so it could be used in little league. Then just watch it become the star performer of the deck and everyone's favourite card.

A powerful combination of cards in this battle.
I will level up some card in my team to better perform next time.
Peace
