Amazing Heart

“Why must he go for Mona? Why not me? I have been giving him some signals, yet he seems to pay deaf attention to my reactions," Aliyah said.

I'm the type of person who is simple and easygoing. I never give chances to anyone or any man to joke with me. Aliyah has been my friend for 6 years now. We had wine and dined together.

Seven months ago, we were invited to a wedding ceremony. After critical observation, I sighted my friend, Aliyah, gazing at a young-looking and handsome guy. I was not too sure, but I tried to draw her attention. She was not ready to hear what I was saying, as she was deeply lost in the handsomeness of this young guy.

I stood at her front just to obstruct her sight of the young-looking guy, but she shifted her head just to enjoy her look with this guy.

“Aliyah, what's the problem with you?” I questioned her. This was when she answered me. Her voice sounded as if she had just emerged from underwater.

“Nothing, I mean nothing," she responded. I could not ask any further, as I was less concerned.

Towards the end of the wedding, we were surprised to see the young-looking and handsome guy raising his glass of wine to toast the couple. Aliyah shifted from where we were sitting and moved close to the young, handsome guy. She immediately poured herself a glass of wine just to have a toast with the young, handsome guy instead of the couple. I was shocked to see something unexpected. I was just not moved by what my friend was doing, so I sat on a chair, waiting for her to get through with her mind, before gallivanting to our abode. As I sat watching, I saw this young, handsome guy giving me a serious gaze. I tried to leave where I was seated to a place where our sights would not meet, yet his sight followed me in my direction.

I pretended it was just a look, but then I said within me, “You were supposed to be gazing at my friend, Aliyah, but not me.”.

As he raised the glass cup, wanting to toast with others, mistakenly the glass cup skipped off from his hand and dropped on the floor. It broke into pieces. This was when he realized he had done something not worth doing. As he was selecting the pieces of glass from the floor, his eyes again flashed to where I was, and mistakenly, the small pieces of bottle cut him deeply in his palm. Despite the cut, he was still looking at me without feeling what had injured him. The groom noticed and walked towards him, leaving his bride behind. “You are not focused, man! What's the problem?” The groom asked.

“That girl over there has taken my mind off the toast. She is beautiful and my kind of girl," he said without uttering a single lie. He was so plain.

My friend, on the other hand, could not observe what was going on and instead focused deeply on the guy.

The toast was somehow suspended, waiting for the young-looking guy whose name was yet to be disclosed to clean up his hand.

He walked towards me and asked if I would be by his side while he toasted with a glass of wine. I objected and answered plainly, "No.”.

He went ahead for the toast, but Aliyah was surprised to see this young, handsome guy with me. She came to me and asked, “Please, what did he say to you? I saw him right beside you discussing with you.”.

“He said I should stay right beside him, but I objected. I don't know the reason behind his words," I said without missing a word.

“It means he did not observe me. I have been giving him body, but yet he failed to recognize me and instead walked to you.” Aliyah said to me, I felt so bad, but then it's not my fault for the young-looking handsome guy not to get her noticed.

Aliyah got angry and left me at the party. I was calling her, but she was not ready to answer me. I ran after her while the young, handsome guy was behind us. I observed but kept silent. We boarded a rickshaw. I looked behind us and saw the guy entering a rickshaw. I do not know if he was after us, but he was just following us until we got home. As we entered, the rickshaw that carried him accelerated.

I tried to apologize to my friend, Aliyah, but she was not just giving me a listening ear. I later let go of the begging, as it was becoming too much.

In the morning, I went to a nearby mall to buy bread and some fresh peppers and tomatoes, just to prepare my friend her favourite. I got home and entered the kitchen. I plugged in the toaster and was toasting bread for my friend before a knock came on the door.

“Aliyah, please, you can go and check who's knocking," I said as she went to open the door.

“Who is that?” I asked her, but she kept quiet. I asked repeatedly but got the same silence. “Would it be that she is still angry with me?” I asked myself as I came out of the kitchen. I saw this same young, handsome guy standing tall with the door widely opened.

“Please, may I enter?” He said it with the sharp gaze he had given me. I could not resist and instead allowed him in.

“Should I call her for you?” I said.

“Who do I know here?” He replied keenly.

“My friend, Aliyah, of course," I replied.

“I only saw you at the party and fell for you and nothing else," he replied.

I quickly rushed to the kitchen to check the bread I was toasting before it got burned off. He had already been perceiving the aroma and asked if he could have some. I served him and went inside to call Aliyah.

“Don't worry, I think he is here for you and not me. Just go after him. I'm not angry," she said, but I tried to look into his eyes to see if she was truly not angry. It was shown to her that he could not get the young-looking guy, but was then in pain.

*Toast bread is my favorite," he said.

“Then you should be a fan of my friend, Aliyah. She loves toast bread to the brim,” I replied.

We started a conversation, and I was starting to fall for him, as he was truly charming and handsome.

“Oh, lest I forget, I'm Dan, the son of the owner of the Sky mall," he said.

“Anyway, I'm Mona.”.

This was how we started dating, and Aliyah, on the other hand, had removed her eyes from Dan because she wanted our relationship to keep moving forever.

A strange way to start a relationship. The friend did not meet the boy's expectations and now she will toast the bread without company. Nice story.

Oh, how I feel ead for Aliyah. Tjats how crazy sruff can get though. You like someone but they like somebody else.
For her sake, it was good she laid back. She'd have only hurt herself more if she kept up with the interest

Relationships can be sometimes weird. The heart wants someone, but it doesn't get what it wants as the beat belongs to someone else.

The heart often has a will of its own, as is true in this story. To form such a fast attachment so quickly is not usual, but it can happen. You certainly create a scene where love is fickle and the characters have to bend to it.

In Aliyah you have created a sympathetic character. It seems there are no bad guys in this story, just fate.

Thank you for sharing this story with us, @abigail04

Wow ooo, this is really an amazing love story, just imagine you were staring at your Aliyah while she, was staring at the beauty of the handsome man in the party. But the handsome young man was gazing at you. It's quite an interesting story I really enjoyed the content.
