Cheat

“It's so difficult to believe that you, of all people, did this to me. After all we have been through, you still have to follow this path.” I said it in tears.

“Please tell me. What have I done?" Adams, who was filled with lies, asked in return.

We started our love journey when we were in high school without getting to know each other firmly. Adams was so lovely and handsome. I knew every woman would die just to have him, but it did not take me a second to get glued to him, as he was the one who fell for me.

Out of annoyance, I left him and went straight to my abode. Our relationship has got to the extent of almost no return, but I had no choice since it has gone this way.

After leaving, Matilda rushed to my house. She saw my mood and asked, “Why is your face pale?”

“What else do you want to hear? Or did you come here to make a hill out of a mountain?” I was almost on the verge of sending her out of my house.

“I don't get what you mean," Matilda replied.

“Before I say a word, please, I have a question to ask from you," I inquired.

“I'm all yours,” she replied.

“Please don't lie to me because I have received a series of lies from Adams today. I have to find out something before coming to conclusions, I said with my face, just as if someone had done me grave harm.

“Please, did you have anything to do with Adams?” I asked.

“I don't understand what you mean," Matilda replied.

“I have said before that you must not lie to me. I saw the two of you kissing at Mona's birthday party, I said in anger.

“Oh! That? It only happened because I am your friend and nothing more, Matilda replied.

“You are still lying to me.” I have the real evidence, apart from seeing you two. I have the video of your meetings with Adams.” I have seen them but have no videos of them. Furthermore, I was just pulling her legs to get the truth.

“What? But… it was just… she wanted to reveal something but paused when she heard a knock at the door.

“Who is that?” I answered in annoyance.

“It's me," Abigail answered from the other side of the door. I rushed and opened the door for her, but then Matilda's countenance changed suddenly after seeing Abigail.

“What's she doing here?” Abigail asked with seemingly heavy words left in her mouth.

“I don't get it, but she left your place for my house," I said.

“How can a cheater like her leave my house? She has excreted in the church and cannot pack it," Abigail said, as those words looked somehow deep.

*What do you mean by excreted in the church? Did she do something annoying?” I pretended as if nothing were going wrong between the two of us.

“She is a traitor and man-snatcher.” Abigail is named Matilda.

“Ehe, this is… But wait a minute, did she snatch your man?” I asked in anticipation.

“So you have not heard? Why can't you ask Adams to confess to you?” She replied with a question that touched my heart.

“What? Do you mean she has snatched my man too?” I was still pretending to be a novice.

“I thought it was Adams she snatched initially, but getting to my boyfriend's house, I met them kissing. It got me angry, but then she ran to your place, thinking I would not find her,” Abigail added.

“So, you have turned to this, right? I thought it was just me, not knowing that you had also snatched Abigail's man," I said in annoyance.

Matilda could not say a word and was instead left quiet. After staying for some minutes, she wanted to say a word before someone knocked on the door. “Who is that?” I shouted.

“Open the door; it's me," Adams said. I was not ready to open the door but had no choice other than to open it.

“What's up, guys?” He asked.

Instead of answering him, I hissed and walked up to meet with Abigail.

When he came into the parlor, he was surprised to see Matilda. He began to look somehow strange and suspicious. “Are you safe?” He asked.

“Please don't lie to me; I have to ask you a question.” I do not hesitate to ask Adams.

“I'm not desiring that right now," he replied.

“Are you saying that to cover up?” I asked.

“What do you mean?” He replied with a high voice.

“Oh, you have done your best, right? That's why you just want to shout at me, right? I don't blame you, but I blame myself for accepting your proposal to be your girlfriend in the first place. I was so furious.

“I don't get you," he replied, while Abigail and Matilda watched us throw words at each other.

“I want to ask you a question. Are you ready to answer?” I asked again.

“Go ahead,” he replied.

“Have you been dating Matilda?” I asked calmly.

“What sort of question is that? Don't I know how close your friendships are?” He replied.

“And then you went forward to kiss her, right?” I immediately said that he had kept quiet.

“Remember, I told you not to lie to me, but you have lied," I voiced out.

“This useless girl has the guts to go around with my man and even has the mind to go around with Abigail's man. It's so shameful of you, Matilda, I added.

“I am not the type who can sleep around with women. I only have you. The one who related that to you is lying, Adams said once again.

“I have coverage of how you kissed and the way you behaved while doing that '', and immediately after I mentioned coverage, Adam's mood changed, whereas I have nothing like that.

“Please, I'm sorry; it was the devil's handwork,” he said.

“How did I not see this coming? I don't have your time anymore. We have gone so far that I found it difficult to quit, but with this painful aspect of life, I have no choice other than to relieve myself, I said.

“Please, I'm sorry; forgive Adams. It was the devil's handwork. Abigail, please, I apologize for what I have done. I was not ready to, but your man forced me to accept him, and I forced my way into Adam's life. He was not ready to, but I had no choice other than to make him fall for me." Matilda could not hold back her tears.

“Please, could you two leave my house before I call the police for harassment?” I replied harshly.

They both left shamefully.

There is a lot going on in this story and it's a little hard to keep the characters straight. Some added narrative to describe the characters would really help the reader, since there is only so much we can "see" through dialogue. We recommend the article Action, Dialogue and Narrative: The Dynamic Trio in our catalog of fiction writing tips.

Thank goodness, Abigail did not accept any of their apologies, they should live with that guilt for messing with her.

I don't know why some people go into a relationship. It is hard to understand the motive behind being with someone and cheating. It is just sad, really.

Their reasons for cheating is so lame. Which one is your man forced you to accept him. It doesn’t make any sense. Is she a baby or was it a life and death situation for her to take her friends man.
Like Papeeyah used to say “trash her and the cheating boyfriend now!”

Martilda is really a betrayal who truly does not respect friendship bound by cheating on her friend, while Adam too, did not love Abigail too.
