I Found Love For A Short Stay

Going by the look of things, a holiday is just a way to get some special, unforgettable memories. Memories that would last forever.

Boland is purely a home far from home. Although Boland is my city and my home town, it is far from where we lived. It's a home filled with different happenings, especially during a period like this (Christmas). Anyone would love to visit this country just for fun and to make you feel happy. Happiness is what we call the city of Boland.

My mom had told me all about the city, and I don't want to miss it this holiday.
“Mum, when I'm done with my final year exams, where will you and Dad take me for a holiday?” I stylishly threw it to my mom while she was sitting with my dad having their dinners.
“Dave, my son, I have discussed it with your mom, but she was not ready to answer me; maybe she would listen to you as you are saying it," my dad admitted as he passed all the blame to my mom.
“Ah….! Honey, you are lying. I never heard it from you for once." My mom denied hearing it from my dad.

This caused an argument between the two, but after a few minutes, my mom admitted that she had heard my dad say it, but she was busy with something else, which was why she could not answer.
“But I think we should go to our city, Boland. Dave has not gone there since we gave birth to him. It's over 17 years now.” It was just as if my mom had gone to my mind to bring out what I had kept with me.

“I think you are right. I have been the only one going home. We should go experience it this Christmas, my dad said, which left me with joy.
“Dave, do you agree with us?” My mom asked me, but without waiting, I immediately answered her, “Mum, it's fine. I can't wait to see things for myself, I responded.

Four months later, I was done with my final year exams, and I started preparing by packing my clothes inside my traveling bag. My mom and dad did the same.

We went on the journey, which took us almost seven hours. We got home during the evening when everyone was in their various houses. Immediately we entered my compound, and I sighted this beautiful girl who was just like an angel. She was gazing at me while I was smiling at her. I waved my hands at her, and immediately she responded.

“My son, welcome," my grandpa said to my dad.
“Is this Dave, my grandson?” Grandpa asked as I immediately answered, “Yes, Grandpa, I'm.” I could not wait for my dad to answer.
He drew closer to me and gave me a huge hug. My grandma approached, hugged me, and nearly lifted me.
“I have prepared your favorite dish," my grandma told my dad. I was so confused about my dad's favorite, as I had seen him eat different kinds of food.
We went in, and my grandma brought out Banga soup coupled with fufu (made from cassava). My mom helped my grandma place the food on the table. We ate, and indeed, the food was so delicious.

It's the following morning, and everyone has started preparing for Christmas since it's going to take place tomorrow. I took a stroll outside my compound and gazed through the path to where I saw this beautiful damsel. I was hoping to see her, but to my surprise, I did not.

Likewise, I went on a stroll. As I approached the major road, I turned back and saw the pretty angel chasing after me, I guess. “Could it be that she is after me?” I said to myself.
As she approached, she gazed at me and said, “Good morning.”
I was melting deep inside of me after hearing her sweet voice. “How can this be?” I thought to myself.
“How are you, babe?” I asked in response.
“I'm fine. Where are you heading to?” She asked. I found her so lovely, and I cherish her so much.
“I'm just taking a stroll downtown," I said.
“Have you been here before?” She asked.
“This would be my first time coming to this town. I knew nothing about Boland," I said, as I felt at home being with her.
“I'm Dave," I said.
“Oh, I had forgotten to introduce myself to you; I'm Ani," she responded.
“Let me take you around the city, and you will see the different ceremonies out there. We have the best method of celebrating Christmas here in Boland, she added.

As we left to have a look, we saw so many ceremonies taking place. We finally sat beside the riverside, having a nap and observing the canoe festival. We left home this morning, and now it's 4 p.m. My parents would be looking for me right now, but I was not ready to go home. I'm still enjoying Ani’s company. I love the way we sat together, observing the ongoing festival.
Likewise, I took some money with me and bought some snacks and minerals just to relieve the hunger. We sat close to each other, and immediately she shouted as two canoes were drawing closer to each other. She immediately rested her head on me and hugged me.
I held her and was not ready to release her. She was also not ready to remove herself.
“After all the searching, this is where you camped yourself with a girl?” My dad yelled furiously.
Immediately, I jumped up and told my dad, “I'm sorry, Dad. I knew the town, and so she decided to take me around the town.”
“Will you keep quiet?” My mom shouted.
“And young lady, who are you?” I'm Ani, the daughter of Chief Ogba of Boland City,” she responded while shaking in fear.
“Don't you think your parents would be looking for you right now?” My mom asked.
“They don't have my time, ma'am. They preferred going out, leaving me and my siblings behind, although I'm the only girl among them, Ani replied.
“But then you should be at home by now, despite what you just said about your parents,” my dad said in anger.

Ani immediately rushed home, drenched in tears, without waving her beautiful hands at me. I understand the reason, but then a thought came over me: “Could it be that I have lost her?”
My parents began to shout at me while I was busy thinking of the beautiful moments we had together.

“We are going back tomorrow since you have the attitude of staying that late outside.” I was less concerned about my parents' words, but I was just thinking about Ani. “How would I get to her and tell her we would be leaving?”

We left the riverside for my compound. I sneaked out again just to be sure of my mind. I saw Ani outside waiting for someone I didn't know. “Are you waiting for someone?” I asked
“I knew you would come outside," she replied.
“My dad said we would be going tomorrow just because of what happened today; we may not see each other until I come back to Boland," I said.
“You will leave your contact information with me while you take mine with you. We will be talking on the phone. What about that?” she uttered.
“That's fine with me," I said as we exchanged numbers.
We parted with a hug. Finally, we got home, and the first call I received was Ani’s. We spoke for more than 20 minutes. No day would pass by without hearing her voice.

At least, I found my love with the short stay in Boland.

Awww! It's amazing how you and Ani found love within a short while, even though your dad was angry that you stayed out late with her, you were less concerned because you have found love. I am glad you have to sneak out to get her contact.

The trip was unknowingly arranged just for the two of you to meet and that was established. Love happens anywhere, anytime, and to anyone. Thanks for sharing a lovely piece

This is a lovely Christmas romance. You begin well

Going by the look of things, a holiday is just a way to get some special, unforgettable memories. Memories that would last forever.
Boland is purely a home far from home. Although Boland is my city and my home town, it is far from where we lived.

The theme of the story is established and we are introduced to the marvelous Boland. When Ani is first mentioned, her image is consistent with Dave's expectations of Boland.

In the middle of the piece, there is a crisis--this is essential to a well-crafted story. But, the couple's relationship survives the crisis, and the story ends on a high note. This is a satisfying resolution.

What you have created in the story is a very good arc.

Thank you for sharing the story with us, @abigail04.

Wow, what a great take. It's nice that they still talk even after departure. Parents cannot separate the bond between lovers.
